Im pretty good with DIY and electrics, have rewired a few things and an
extension, and also added a consumer unit before, (started off as an
apprentice electrician when i left school, but only did 2 years before a
career change), but im not sure about the following:
1. Am fitting a new kitchen in a few weeks time, i need to re-locate the
fusebox (will upgrade to a consumer unit). The fusebox is on the kitchen
side of a garage wall at the moment, so all i want to do is put it into the
garage on the other side of the wall. As all the wires come down in the
plaster in the wall to the unit at the moment, theres no spare cable length.
How do i extend the cablke ends that are there to be able to run them
through the wall??? (and also is this legal to Extend them?)
2.
How much do the YEB charge for moving the meter and board into another
location, ie, other side of the wall where the Consumer unit will be? any
rough estimates
Any help and advice is appreciated
regards
Si
Mount it higher on the otherside if possible to get the extra length. This
would mean that all the cables are running up the kitchen wall with nobody
except you having any idea that they are there just below the plaster, this
may not be wise.

You will have to ask them. Seen it done from £120 for simple job upped
whatever they can think of for a big move.
