Removing paint from ceramic tiles

Hope someone can help with this...
We recently moved into a house in which the bathroom tiles have been
painted - very badly - with a satin gloss. As far as I can tell there
are plain white glazed tiles underneath.
I want to try to strip the paint then re-grout and would be grateful to
know what sort of paint stripper would do the job without potentially
damaging the tiles.
