Hello all,

Any kind soul able to give any useful advice about this:

I moved into a flat with a pre-installed Trevi shower. I think its the
"Boost" model, as it looks identical to this on their website.

It has two controls, one for temp, the other for volume. After a few months
the vol control seemed to "slip" a bit. Sometimes it would turn a bit and
not always affect the flow of water. Lately it became difficult to turn off
fully. Usually it turns easily to a partial "stop" at which point the water
is either dripping or trickling. By turning it quickly back and forth a few
times (by friction I guess) I usually could get it to turn off fully
(eventually)

Now however it completely fails to turn off. I can still continue to turn
the tap control clockwise ad infinitum but it doesn't seem to have any
purchase on whatever mechanism is inside to turn things off.

Although it is just a trickle it drains my hotwater supply over the course
of the day.

Any advice
Please bear in mind I am a complete and utter novice when it comes to DIY
plumbing and anything like that.

Thanks

alan

Hi Alan,

Can you see a pop off front cover on the knob ? Or a little screw in the
middle of it ? The screw might be covered by a little push in cover, or the
whole front of the knob might lift off. The cover may be in the shape of
the moulded part where you put your fingers over to turn the control, so
take a close look at it please.

Sorry, I didn't look properly at the shower valve on the web link you gave,
so here goes, again. :-)) The little coloured dots, in the middle of the
valve heads, should be able to pop out, put something over the plug hole
before you lose one down there though, and you should find a screw
underneath it. Undo the screw and lift the head off the valve.

Once you have the head off, then you can try to turn the control using the
control arm which the head usually turns, and see if the valve closes
properly without the head. If it does, then it is just the head that's
become worn or loose and needs tightened or renewed.

If the valve is still not closing properly, then you will need to take the
whole thing apart to make any further repairs, so I'll leave the advice
there for the time being, until you get back with more information on what
you've found so far.
