Dear all

Due to a fire in a BT cable tunnel in Manchester, the UK's National Library
for the Blind currently has no functional phone lines.

Therefore no calls can be made or received, similarly no faxes or e-mails.

This also means that the main NLB website (www.nlb-online.org) is
also out of action as the server is based at NLB. Some of the others such as
Visugate (www.visugate.org.uk) are still running as they are hosted
off-site.

At present the only way to communicate with NLB is by post, which is
unaffected.

We are very sorry about the disruption this is causing and at this time, BT
are unable to tell us when the situation will be resolved.

Best wishes

Mark Drury
Head of Marketing
NLB

Note I can gain access to www.nlb-online.org fine from here using a
Demon ISDN connection.

Well I couldn't access Aria all Tuesday because of the lines in
Manchester, though I believe most of the cabling has now been fixed
after the fire was put out.

Brian, This is for real, I believe they've got their phone lines back
today though.
Cheers.
