Zafira 19DTH EGR valve

Had the emission warning light and code 04005A come up a couple of weeks
ago, and drove for 150 miles or so like that. The car is a 57 plate with
40k miles on the clock. Cleaned the EGR valve (what a filthy job) last
week and had a friend reset the code on Sunday. The car was only driven
10 miles or so before the light and the code reappeared.
I'll shortly be going on a 5-600 mile holiday trip. Should I do anything
about the valve before I go, or can it be left until I have more time?
Might the valve have to be replaced? The sprung part moves freely, but I
don't know if the actuator works.
