Ah yes, the Wiki says it was based on Waddington for a while: close (10
miles away) but not close enough.
Scampton tower ran VHF radio checks to Waddington and one or two other
stations in Lincolnshire. 617 squadron had Vulcans on the pad with Blue
Steel bombs in those far off cold war days.
