Surely now the Magician (whose credibility is dropping below that of Paul
Daniels with is Caledonian superiority fantasies) will acknowledge that
England is by far the best nation in the world. Indeed will he admit the
English have actually "carried" the Scots for over a millennia?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/international/3009150.stm
England rammed their critics' words down their throats with a stunning
victory against Australia in Melbourne on Saturday.
The visitors ran in three tries as they secured their first-ever win on
Australian soil.
Criticised before the match as one-dimensional and negative, England
revelled in the dry conditions and hard pitch.
They combined forward power with pace in the backs and out-scored the hosts
three tries to one with Will Greenwood, Mike Tindall and Ben Cohen crossing
for England and Wendell Sailor grabbing Australia's try.
Jonny Wilkinson kicked two conversions and two penalties, while Joe Roff
collected three penalties for Australia.
England started with a classic score. The forwards and backs combined to
take the ball through countless phases before Greenwood crashed over for the
try.
Wilkinson converted, but the Wallabies were soon on the board through a Roff
penalty, and the Australian winger could have cut the gap to a point with a
second penalty.
However, Roff is not a front-line kicker and it showed as his nervous effort
slid past the posts.
It had been cynical play from England to give away the second penalty but
they soon showed the positive side of their game with a glorious try.
Phil Waugh gets to grips with England dynamo Jason Robinson
Great play from the forwards at a lineout set Trevor Woodman running at the
heart of the Wallaby defence and when he was halted some dazzling handling
gave Tindall the chance to power over in the corner.
Wilkinson's conversion hit a post but the rest of the half was all England,
with an electric Robinson run and a mighty driving maul from the pack both
taking England desperately close to adding to their lead.
A couple of poor decisions to kick wasted the positions and when Australia
came out firing at the start of the second half two Roff penalties saw them
cut the gap to 12-9.
Wilkinson nudged England back to a six-point lead after Australia killed the
ball at a ruck but it was the hosts who were looking the most likely to
score.
However, England then scored a spectacular try to wrap up victory as Cohen
blitzed through the Australian defence.
Wilkinson converted and although Australia scored a stunning try through
Sailor England were out of reach.
Fittingly the last word fell to Wilkinson, who has been at the heart of
England's recent successes, as he stroked over a penalty on the final
hooter.

High above in Heaven, the Jade Emperor, Ruler of Heaven and Earth, was
startled by the rays of light reaching his Celestial Throne.
"See what's causing that," he ordered his chief minister, the Spirit of the
Great White Planet Venus.
The Great White Planet went to look out the East Gate of Heaven and soon
returned with his report. "Your Majesty, a stone has given birth to a
monkey. The rays of light came from its eyes. But now that the monkey has
taken food, the light is fading."
The Jade Emperor sighed. "Only a monkey, is it? Well, we have important
business here. A monkey is no concern of ours."

We take due note, Madge, of your inability to look facts in the face, and
your unwillingness to display the well-known sporran-wearer's fair-minded
good sportsmanship and congratulate both the England cricket team's series
win over Pakistan and the England rugby team's COMPLETE AND UTTER STUFFING
of the Kiwis and the Aussies.

There can be no dispute that, at this moment, England's rugby team is number
one in the world. Sure, tomorrow is another day; but credit where credit is
due.

I know there are some on this ng who can't stand rugby (for whatever
reason). Personally I'll settle for beating both NZ and Oz inside a week at
anything!

BTW, did anyone else see that interview with Peter Ustinov on the box where
he was recounting how he was always being accosted by semi-drunken Aussie
diplomats at important functions and accused of regarding all Aussies as
convicts?

PU replied, "Not at all, my dear chap. I've always thought that some at
least of you Australians were descended from prison warders, and I think
you're one of those!" He wandered off leaving the guy trying to work out
whether he'd been insulted or not. Classic.

Yes I am happy to confirm that NZ were a lot better than England but for a
terrible kicking performance by Carlos Spencer which this new guy Carter
seems the answer to judging by the Wales game, the bookies seem to agree
with me too at 13/8 with the guffs at 2/1 and 3/1 Oz.

Australia's population is 18.62 million, England's is 63.23 million. Yet
they are better than you at football, Aussie Rules Football, Cricket, Rugby
Union, the Commonwealth Games, the Olympics, everything you think you are
good at, the Aussies are better with less than 1/3 of your population. I
think you had better reconsider your superiority theories where Australia
are concerned.

Or aren't you capable of that ???

I think that what is at issue here is your inferiority complex when looking
at the English, not some spurious superiority theory of your own devising.

Over the past few days our Rugby team have beaten both NZ and Oz in their
own back yard - by any measure a superb achievement. The cricketers have
also one a small ODI series. Great. Does that mean that everyone south of
the border regards themselves as world-beaters at everything? If you think
that then you must have a very fragile grip on reality.

Mind you, the Scots have been misjudging and underestimating the English for
centuries -that's why they've been a subject race for so long. So maybe I
shouldn't be surprised...

I do indeed owe you an apology, as I have been onto the census website

Populations of individual countries were:

http://www.statistics.gov.uk/census2001/press_release_uk.asp

England 49,138,831 (83.6 per cent of the total population);
Scotland 5,062,011 (8.6 per cent);
Wales 2,903,085 (4.9 per cent);
Northern Ireland 1,685,267 (2.9 per cent).

On 24 June 2003 at 07:45:34 (Canberra time), the resident population of
Australia is projected to be:

And in abs.gov.au/ausstats

The poulation of Australia as of today's date is

19,883,632

This projection is based on the estimated resident population at 31 December
2002 and assumes growth since then of:

one birth every 2 minutes and 5 seconds,
one death every 3 minutes and 46 seconds,
a net gain of one international migrant every 5 minutes and 50 seconds
leading to
an overall total population increase of one person every 2 minutes and 35
seconds.

And at...

http://www.stats.govt.nz/

The Population of New Zealand is.....

Estimated Resident Population As at 31 March 2003
(P) 3,997,300

Now here is the maths for you :- 49,138,831 divded by 19,883,632 is
2.471320682
and 49,138.831 divided by 3,997,300 is 12.29301

Well no argument from me, Scotland are crap at most things, and I am sorry
to disappoint but we do not feel inferior to England but like to laugh at
your pathetic belief in your abilities which is far and away in excess of
reality. We dont want you to stop, as we absolutely love to see it kick you

My turn to apologise - but I'm afraid your question wasn't entirely clear.
Am I not capable of what? Thinking? Yes, I am capable of thinking.
Reconsidering? I spend a good part of my life reconsidering. Superiority
theories??? I don't have any.

>>I know the facts will make you look silly but at least you could admit the
Aussies are better than England at most sports, so here is opportunity #2
for you. Go on, make the statement that England are in fact inferior to

The facts that you are on about seem to be a peculiar selection of your own
devising. The fact I mentioned was that we have just STUFFED the Aussies in
their own back yard. The fact that it was for the first time ever makes it
all the sweeter. Undeniably, if we beat NZ, Oz, SA, France, Italy,
Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Romania, Argentina, Fiji, Tonga, Western Samoa and
everybody else who turns up, we will win the RWC - but let's wait and see.
Any fool can see that England are capable of winning it, but only a fool
would pick a winner this far in advance.

Yes, waiting to laugh when someone slips on a banana skin is a classic sign
of an inferiority complex.

And No, I'm not going to make any daft generalisations based upon trivial
and selective criteria on a subject that means fuck all.

It also proves that overall you are inferior to Aus and NZ. Chance meant you
had to win once, a strike rate of 8% is nothing to shaout about. But a 92%
rate for the Aussies is one they can rightly shout about.

Well then based on the fact I openly admit to wishing you lose before the
