UN PROBES NATO BOMBING CAMPAIGN
The UN chief war crimes prosecutor is reviewing the conduct of Nato
pilots and their commanders during the bombing campaign against
Yugoslavia.
A report of the Yugoslav tribunal's investigation on the air strikes
carried out by the alliance landed on prosecutor Carla Del Ponte's desk
in The Hague last week, said her spokesman, Paul Risley.
It was compiled by her staff at the urging of several "interested
parties," including a group of Russian parliamentarians and a Canadian
law professor, Risley said.
The war crimes tribunal, set up in 1993 by the UN Security Council,
cannot indict governments or international organisations.
But if Del Ponte chooses to press charges against any individual as a
result of the report, it would be a landmark in global justice - and a
highly controversial one.
Never has a Western leader or military figure been hauled before an
international tribunal.
Nato launched the bombing campaign in March to force Yugoslav President
Slobodan Milosevic to halt his crackdown against ethnic Albanians in
the rebellious southern province of Kosovo.
The contents of the tribunal's report are confidential. However, Nato
has been criticised for civilian deaths in what it has described as
mishaps, including the bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade and a
strike against a railroad bridge as a passenger train was crossing it.
Nato spokesman Jamie Shea refused to comment on the investigation,
saying the organisation has not been formally notified of it.

It is naive to belive that Ameracns will alowe any of the members of
the Nato involved in war against Yugoslavia to be charged with crime
not alone brought to trial. One of the reason is that thise crimes were
comited agains Yugoslavia, a state blaklisted as rogue whose leader is
branded a criminal. Americans are careful in this. First they anleash
the media with dayly misinformationa and fabrications until the
intended victim is demoralized without friends or support. Then they
can do what they want without feer of reprizial. No Nato will not be
brought to justice. That was the first thing they ensured before they
destroyed Yugoslavia.

me change view.

Yes you are correct, I have taken sides. I am Serbian, born in
Yugoslavia( Serbija) not far from Kosovo border. As Serbian I have
taken Serbian side in the war as the Albanians have taken Albanian
side, which I understand and do not blame them. What I don't understand
is their fanatical belif that Kosovo ( and now part of Serbia proper)
is theirs and only theirs by the fact that ther are more of them. What
they say is, there are more of us, we want it therefor it is ours. The
fact that only 50 years ago Serbians were majority in Kosovo is
irelevent to them and to the internation comunity.
I have lived in closse proximity and with them. My personal experience
was thet even thought it is serbia and we are Serbs the Albanians had
greater freedom than the serbs.
These are some of the facts I remeber as a young man.
1. No Serb was alowed to own a fire arm of any kind. Ony in the 60's
serbs were alowed to own hunting guns. Yet, all Albanians and I mean
all Albanians owned guns openly.
2. All serbs hade to pay taxes as does most everyone on the plant. If
we did not pay taxes often their live stok and land was reposes to pay
the taxes. At the same time albanian did not pay any taxes.
3. Albanians were allowed to have more than one wife. In fact 40% of
Albanians had 2 to 3 wifes. Thise was strictly prohibited to the Serbs.
The laws I mentioned above were placed in place for all citizens of
Yogoslavia, be they Serbs, Croats, or Albanians. Yet the Albanians
simply ignored them. What is worse the low makers and judiciary system
of Kosovo overlooked them when applied to the Albanians.
One of the problems in reaching the true picture of Yougoslavi, Serbia
or Kosovo is the fact that up to few yeras ago no one cared about them
or bothered to read books on history or social life of the region. Now
any reading material, books and artikles available are for propaganda
purposes writen by people and government in the way to justify their
actions. As usual the more money you have to spend on propaganda and
misinformation and the more ways you have to spred it will win at the
end.
As someone sade "tell a liy 10 times and it becomes a truth".
I apologize that I could not name any books for you to read. I heard a
new book just came out. I am traing to get. It is writen by Scot Taylor
and is called "Inat" ( meaning stubornes. I dont know what it is about.
Please, remember most of the books or material you read are writen on
request of the west or have been aproved by the west. I douth you will
find much of the trought in them.

It is a bit amazing that you claim that the history books I have read is
propaganda. I will not deny that the west is(was) using propaganda, but we
do not have any censorship. All the history books I read was old, and they
ended after second world war.
The items you listed in point 1 to 3 may be right, but it certainly did not
give you any historical rights to the country.
If you go back in history, and list the times Kosovo was part of Serbia (not
Yugoslavia), you will be surprised.
