Deskjet 970cxi printer problem

After buying a new computer, I can't get my printer to operate using the
full feature driver currently available on the web site. It is called
970-enu-xp. I had Windows XP on the last computer as well as this one, and
had no problem with the driver. Now, no mater how many times I reinstall,
it will begin to print for an inch or so, and then spit the rest of the page
out without printing. It would be nice to fix this problem, as the 2 sided
feature won't work if I use another driver, but it prints just fine
otherwise. I've gone through this with tech support and they couldn't find
the answer. I use a USB port on this computer, and was using a parallel
port before. That's the only difference I can think of. Anyone else having
this problem or know the answer? Disconnecting the USB plug during
installation didn't help either. Ideas?
