Dear Colonel De Michele, I was given your email by Donald De Luca. My
name is David Procaccini and my grandfather was Louis Procaccini from
Johnston Rhode Island. Louis was the son of costanzo Procaccini and
Maria G. Corrado of Panni. I am the historian for my grandfathers Army
Air Forces unit, the 38th Depot Repair Squadron which was stationed at
Capodichino, Gioia del Colle, Santa Maria, and Pomigliano from
1943-1945.
According to my gradfather, who died in 1985 he spent much time with
family in Panni during the war and when the war ended he came back to
America and never returned to Italy. I am writing you to ask your help
in finding if anyone in Panni still remembers my grandfather spending
time in Panni. He told a story of stealing food from the Army to bring
to Panni because there was no food because the germans and the
Fascists had taken it all.
I thank you for any help you may be able to provide.
