See:

Yet another useless guide; the screen does not look anything like that.
Cannot get a screen that shows numbers/letters.
I fiddled around, and cannot get back to what seemed to be the basic
display, a small 3-item menu with useless choices - none to make a call.

#4 was useless. Did find "set up voicemail".
Remember now, this is via the fone, the Samsung Help.
There was a question "was this helpful?" and so i answered NO.

downloadcenter.samsung.com says "Please leave a message".
And there was absolutely *NO* way to do so.

Total crap; useless fone due to no voicemail, absolutely no
instructions that work.

HELP!!!

voisemail is a provider feature not a handset feature, contact your
provider for assistance.

Seems incorrect..
Voicemail is "on" the "fone" and in the Samsung guide(s)they
eXplicitly say "set up your voicemail" with instructions that cannot
work (get NO keyboard).

Something else is needed as it does not work.
Now someone can call me, but i cannot answer it.
Get 2 icons; left one is of vertical handset which one would think is
for answering a call, and right one is of handset pointed down which one
would think is for hanging up on a call in progress.
Neither does a damn thing.
So i have a "fone" which is useless for the purpose for which it was
made.

Think about it. Would your average customer be happy with voicemail that
can't take a message if the phone looses cellular signal or runs out of
charge in the battery? It's a provider feature.

During the call to voicemail there should be a little 12 or 10 dot
pattern on the display, poke at that and a keypad should pop up.

* WHAT call?
I see a pulldown menu: Create contact, Search, Missed Calls in
balloon. Above that, another balloon with "Select items" with a 4 tiny
squares icon, and to right "Remove from Home" with a trashcan.
NO damn way to make a call.

Like i said, instructions that cannot work (get NO keyboard).

Again, it is _really_ helpful to have three different "guides" 2 from
Samsung.
Thanks.

I cannot find a way to setup voice mailbox.

The Samsung guide is incomplete as all heck with instructions that
cannot work.

Worse, I get some calls and the caller hears a message that the voice
mailbox is not set up--yet all is saved (i was not able to answer the call).
Then some callers only hear the message that the voice mailbox is not
set up, and the phone hangs up.
Not exactly consistent.

Please, how can i setup voice mailbox?

Thanks.

Does the model number of this manual (S260DL) match the model
number of your J2 ?

https://s3.amazonaws.com/tpassets.devicebits.com/composer/devices/5d776068-6200-46e2-975e-534d88e41e06_35508/TFN_S260DL_EN_UM_TN_SC7_040419_FINAL_WEB.pdf

You would think a copy of the manual would come in the box
with the item. And if paper is too old fashioned, they could
put a mini-CD with a PDF on it, for instructions.

There's got to be some way to verify the model number.

And verify it is activated.

* Model SM-S260DL, serial RF8M63TTDKT, REV1.0

* A more recent version than what i found on the web a week ago.
NOW, after i found an app that acted like an _extremely_ decent
voicemail (the app even determines if called phone is POTS and
automatically converts text to a voicemail), it is possible to follow
the instructions on page 10 and 11.

It is _really_ nice that things change every once in a while, NOT.

* NOPE! Maybe if the vendor was other than Tracfone, that would be present.

* Via Settings, see above.

* One would guess that if everything else worked, that would be the case.

Thanks,
As you can tell from my response, all is OK _NOW_.
