When Cannavaro heard the news during the press conference, one could
see from his face that he was frightened. It wasn't just the
expression of somebody who's worried about a friend, but a
spontaneous reaction of fear as well. He must know who tried to kill
his friend, that's why he's so scared.
Do you think that professionals who were attempting to kill him, would
have let him live?
Stop phishing and start praying for him to get better.

You're the one speculating on the event, now :)
Even if you make perfect sense, there could be other scenarios, if it was
an assassination attempt there could be no messing with the body after the
fall, else it would look like an assassination when the police
investigates.
Better do nothing and transform the failed attempt in a succesful
warning, even if it requires ways to keep Pessotto from telling he was the
victim. There are such ways.

What does this mean? Could you translate that for me please?
I think it means that the moderator of that newsgroup may know/suspect
something too and wants to keep things quiet.

I will err on the side of craps-and-giggles, and think your last
sentence is just that of a very silly boy-man.
The reason given is thusly.
"Your post was evaluated as potentially the cause of flames or
inadvisable (inopportune) or vulgar content, provoking insults. The
Moderations Team ISCJ."

You do indeed err.

Thanks for the translation. But this only reinforces my suspicion. My
message contained no bad words or "provoking insults". Sounds like
a lame excuse to keep things quiet. Obviously, they are too embarrassed
to admit that something fishy is going on.

There needn't be any cloak-and-dagger stuff about it, Theo. It just
means that in their opinion, what you are saying is speculative, and
based on having monitored their group for a while, they know their
posters' personalities well.
And your post, innocent though you may think it, may just be the cause
of needless rancour, especially considering that you're not Italian.
Having a foreigner raise these suspicions, is doubly insulting to
many.
I would understand your feelings a bit more, if USENET had only one
Italian soccer newsgroup. But it doesn't, as we note above.
My name is Thor. Thor van Buren. I am pleased to meet you, Victoria.

I must admit that your explanation of the moderator's rejection
sounds plausible enough. After all, the Mafia surrounding the Juventus
match-fixing scandal has no business spending time on USENET.
I think I will suspend my speculations on the Pessotto affair and
devote myself objectively to appraising the available evidence
concerning the WC (see my post on almost-objective probabilities of
world cup victory).
How do you do, Thor! Sorry about that unwarranted mistake.

I read it, but didn't know what to make it of it. *g*
Still, good deal. At least you are posting on stuff that is neutral.

Maybe the moderators are linked somehow with the society, censorship of
unwanted topics, no matter how innocent, seems standard corporate strategy
to me. But it's also possible that genuine Juventus supporters are
suffering a lot from all rumors about Moggi that were circulating for
years before finally becoming official, so new scandals are really not
welcome now. A pretty lame excuse for censorship which disqualifies the
group.

Nah, the first reports about Pessotto had suspicious tones in italian
groups too. Many were indeed cruel - mine were :)

Nooo.....please, don't leave the thread....i've enjoyed your
speculations so far...they are so hard-boiled! I'd push the story a bit
forward :)
i know how they'll work out the "Cannavaro problem"....magically, after
the final, Cannavaro will be charged of doping...and then everything
will be allright!

There's an awful lot of fishy shit going on in Italy right now. One
might begin to wonder if they're not also manipulating Italy to win the
Cup to get attention off of the scandals.
Mike
He wasn't pushed, he dived. To show solidarity with the national team.

Perhaps you could lend him your tin hat.

Just bumped into this thread....

The moderators of ISCJ are just regular blokes like you and me and have
nothing to do with the club. The suggestion that they would take orders from
anybody about what to allow and what not on the group is one of the most
laughable ideas ever heard on usenet.
Your post was indeed potentially inflammatory and certainly disrespectful to
Pessotto and all the people who loved him and still do.
Juventus is the most loved but also the most hated team in Italy. In fact, I
don't think that the level of resentment against Juve is matched in any
other league in the world . Not Real Madrid, not ManU, not the Yankees.
Maybe for good reason, based on what has come out in the last couple of
months.
If ISCJ were not moderated, it would be an endless flamewar. As it is, it is
one of the best newsgroups around.
