Duty on alcohol in pubs will be lower than it will be via your local off
licence.

A pint of Old Peculier to celebrate, if you'd be so kind.

lagers)

The duty is going up on all except draught beers, so stupidmarkets as
well, though there may be a loophole if you bring your own bottle. ;-)

# You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.

Of course we've got it, we have everything that the discerning toper
might require. Who's for a game of bar billiards to pass the time?

I deduce from your unusual accent, you must be a refugee from
the Temporary Erection, Sir? Please bear in mind that although
that place may be a political asylum, this one ain't. The Visa queue
is at the other till but [ahem] we prefer cash, obvs.

I don't goove I menshunned pollyticks.

Actually tonight seems to have come early; probably due to rain on the
tracks, so I'll report that the beer is actually named "Black Heart" and
has a very fulsome burnt/roasted tang. So nice if you like that sort of
thing, as it lingers. Took me back to my misspent late 20's drinking
Cotleigh Old Buzzard - so nasty I convinced myself I was enjoying it.
At around the same time I was able to indulge in Dr Thirsty's Strong Beer,
who's name I seem to have forgotten.

Black Heart sounds like just my kind of tipple. I don't know either
of the other two, are they beers of yesteryear all cloaked in the mists
of time? My own first Named Beer was Friary Meux Teble Gold, not a bad
drop. Before that came anonymous bitter, best, or mild, 'coz they were
cheap and so was I.

Sadly yes. Also the F&Firkin's Dogbolter.(Possibly made still by um
someone).

I gave up drinking fake british lager when it went over 50p a pint; never
looked back. I think my first Real Ale was a pint of Eldridge Pope's 'Royal
Oak'. I see it's now made by O'Hanlons, Must see if I can sample it & see
if it gives me any reminicences.

Ind Coope took over Friary Meux, then closed it and built a fsckin'
retail mall on the site. I worked at FM for an Xmyth campaign back
when the World was young and so was I. Oh! Big Emma with the
arms like hams, in the Pipkin Room, filling 4 and 7 pint party cans...

I used to like FM and Burton, and went right off Burton Business Plan as
a result. Still liked Burton, though under protest

Ridley's was bestest thobut.
