They deserve it about the same. IE, not at all. Gates got it for services
to British commerce (or some such trash as that)

On a percentage of gross wealth basis, my mum gives a lot more than him.
Of course, she doesn't bleat about her generosity all over the front pages
so she'll never get any sort of honour.
Also on the basis that one billion is more than anyone can ever need, I
figure he could give 50 billion and not miss a cent of it. Now *that*
would do some good.

I thought his report was supposed to be definitive, not putative,
whatever one might think about the limited frame of reference..
Gilligan admitted errors and unwarranted allegations of guvvinment
duplicity were committed in his first unscripted broadcast interview
which were never withdrawn. Gilligan shopped his source (or at
least Susan's source) to the Select Committee and emailed them with
embarrassing questions to ask him.
Dyke backed up Gilligan blindly and totally, but admitted, that for at
least a month, as Editor-in-Chief he had not bothered to read a
transcript of the first broadcast nor ask to see Gilligan's notes.
Kelly was authorised to speak to journalists but under strict rules
and managerial control. His little chats to Gilligan and Susan were
unauthorised and he would quite probably have been facing disciplinary
action.
IANAL or a learned judge but given the purpose of the enquiry I might
well have come to the same conclusions. I saw Tom Mangold
interviewed, a long-term friend of Kelly, and to me, he didn't seem to
have too much of a problem with the results.
IANA blind supporter of new tony and these are my own personal views

Don't you think that it's right that they should question this report.
From the start I wondered what the point of an enquiry was. Surely the
inquest would answer all the questions that needed to be answered.
In 28 days time we'll find out if the coroner feels there is any merit in
re-opening that inquest.

Regrettably, they never get out.
> If it takes as long to schedule as the inquest on Diana I'm not going
> to hold my breath/ And even that one was opened and put on the back

Different thing entirely. No inquest was scheduled on the D. death in this
country because les frogs had one. It's only Dodi's daddy's lunacy that
finally got one started over here. It was adjourned so that the Brit
coroner could be got up to speed, as it were.
An inquest was started on Dr Kelly and promptly adjourned when the enquiry
was announced. I read somewhere that a judicial enquiry can replace an
inquest, so presuming that is true, it's likely that it was assumed the
Hutton's report would draw a line under things. However the coroner
expressed doubts a couple of weeks back about the way things were going
and said that when he'd read the report he would decide whether to review
the evidence - including all the witheld statements - and decide whether
to re-open the inquest. Apparently, by law he can make no announcement for
28 days after the enquiry ends.
You may be right about not holding your breath, but believe me, if the
coroner decides to proceed, it won't be off the front pages till it's
done.

Ah but Bob, you've missed the point here. I made up a word (a slightly
different word from the one in question (above)) and spelled it
incorrectly - that's if there is a correct way of spelling a made up word.
The error could (and it seems, did) result in a word that you claim
exists, based on your 'knowing' this Delia bird.
The only lists I make are to port (or starboard) as I walk home from the
pub.
Come to think of it, I make the same list in the passenger seat of the car
when my good lady wife picks me up from the pub. Except the 'starboard'
option is a no no due to the effect it has on her driving.
