My airbag light keeps flashing on and off and Citroen refuse to fix
the problem under warranty because the mechanics of the airbag work
fine. I want to remove the bulb, to stop distracting me while I'm
driving, until I can get Citroen to fix it free of charge.
I can just about reach the bulb by taking off the steering column
cover and wriggling my hand up to the back of the dash but I don't
know which wires/plugs are which behind the dash.
I've tried to get to the bulb by taking off the plastic cover, which
sits in the dash in front of the speedo but I can only get to all the
star screws by taking off the steering wheel.
I'm not prepared to do this unless it is the only way to get to the
bulb.
Thanks in advance.

and i think the only way to get to it, IS to remove the steering wheel,
which may set the airbag off anyway !! :-(

A flashing airbag light can be considered as a non-conformacy, and as
such Citroen is OBLIGED to fix it under your warranty. Ask Citroen how
they would feel like having legal actions taken against them for a
flipping dashboard light. Cc: to the UK importer if necesseary.
The reason is simple: regardless whether the airbag is functioning okay,
the system is telling you that the system is NOT functioning okay.
Whatever happened beyond that bulb is not your problem, but Citroens as
your car is still under warranty.
good luck.

The good news is that many citroens get flashing airbag lights, in many
cases it is the wiring connector beneath the seat. I believe this can be
repaired yourself, best to see the Haynes manual for how to deactivate the
airbag prior to messing with the wiring.
True, it is Cit's responsbility to fix the airbag light. If the car was
bought new with the 3 year warranty, then take it to another dealer. If the
car was secondhand and not under the Citroen Hallmark warranty then you are
stuck with that dealer. I bought a car from a dealer who I won't name, we'll
call him Peg Hardy.
I thought their used car warranty work and customer care was appalling. Next
time I buy a used car, it will be with the full dealer warranty.
Hope this helps
signed. An ex saxo owner (lover) who now drives a xsara. And yes, they both
had flashing airbag light problems.

Just goes to show that some dealers in the UK are still nothing but
common crooks trying to charge over £80 for something that they have
been told is definitely covered by the manufacturer themselves.
FYI the Honest, Decent Dealer who I highly recommend, is the Citroen
dealer in a town that rhymes with "Proud" in Gloucestershire. And the
Dastardly, Deceitful, Citroen Dealer a.k.a "Crook" is located in a
town in North Wiltshire, best known for the most ridiculous roundabout
in the world, Melinda Messenger and the worst FM Radio Station in
existence.
