Hi all,

I have an original Citroën radio / CD player in my Picasso. Since a couple
of days, the radio beeps when it is on. It is a short, high beep that sounds
every second. Has anyone heard that before? What is it?

Peter.

If it's an RDS stereo and it's got 'TA' showing on the display and you
drive in a weak signal area so the radio loses its traffic news station, it
beeps every second as a warning to retune to another station. You should be
able to temporarily silence it by pressing the 'TA' button once to switch
this function off but it should stop of its own accord after about 30
seconds.

Mike, thanks for your answer. I will try that when I drive home.

I'm afraid this didn't solve the problem. RDS and TA work fine and switching
one or both off doesn't stop the beep. It doesn't stop after 30 seconds
either.

The beep sounds like an alert signal. Is this what happens when you put a
stolen radio in an other car? (which I didn't, by the way...)

Schijnt een niet onbekend probleem te zijn bij de picasso, deze radio wordt
door de bsi aangestuurd. Vraag je dealer om je radio naar frankrijk te
sturen en voor jouw een andere aan te vragen.

Do you have a message on the display during the beeps?
How often do the beeps occur? Is it only 1 beep our "beep......
beep.....beep....beep"?
If it is a stolent radio, it is be the second type, and you can't stop
it....

The sound was like "beep...beep...beep".

I went back to the dealer and they "reconfigured" the radio. The radio
probably has had some failure like a loose contact or a temporary lack of
power. As a result the radio lost its security code.

All is OK now. Thanks for all responses.

Peter.

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Picasso, and have just subscribed to this
newsgroup, I mentioned to the dealer at the time of the first 1000 mile
check, that I didn't recall seeing any literature with the radio code on it,
and they told me that the Picasso radio does not have a code. if it turns
out that they do, perhaps this is something I should chase up !!.

Cheers

I haven't seen any documents with the code, either. The dealer asked me for
the code, but I didn't have it. Still they managed to get the radio going
again. I don't know how they did it, but they called it "reconfiguring".

Hi all,

Is there any way of “reconfiguring” the radio without the dealer charging me £50?
I have just bought an 08 plate XSARA Picasso which the old owner had put a different radio in. He kept the original which I now want to return to its rightful place but my local dealer wants to charge me £50 to reconfigure it.
