Hi everyone,

We have two wireless mesh routers that need their RP-SMA pigtails
replaced. Right now they are just sitting at my apartment. Is anyone
interested in taking them who will actually work on them? You'll need
some soldering equipment/experience and a source for the pigtails. FRITA
can reimburse you for the cost of those.

You can read details (and see pictures of the internals) at

Hi Brian,

Bring it to open hours and I will take a look at them.  I have some soldering experience.

I'm sorry for the off-topic post. I meant to send this to the staff
list, not the trainers list.

Do we actually have some female RP-SMA pigtails?  I remember looking at the routers, the solder job on the board look ok, so the damage is within the crimp-on connectors themselves.  If I remember right, we could not measure continuity between the center pin/socket on the connector and the board, and you were going to look into possible warranty replacement of the units.  I am guessing they are too old for warranty?  If we can find some good pig-tails and we aren't voiding a warranty, I have all of the soldering equipment and am willing to fix them. The solder station is portable as well as the removal tools.  I can bring that by and we can work on them there during open hours if you like... We do need to come up with some good pigtails first though.  Once crimp-on stuff gets hosed up, it can't really be re-used or salvaged. There was a time when netgear used reverse SMA connectors on thier routers and Access Points. Is there a possibility that we have some of those around to salvage  pigtails from? Also, are we going to be using those and/or our other Open Mesh equipment for the Nellie B project, or is it up to them to buy those?

Regards,

Mark
