16year old disabled pupil urges public to stop thinking negatively about them

Joyce Kareyo (TBS, Moyo)

A 16year old primary six pupil of Moyo Girls Primary School Unit of the blind in Moyo district is challenging members of the public in general to wave off from their minds the thinking that disabled children are useless.

Addressing her mind in an interview to the negative attitude of the public towards disabled children, Mary Tayo who lost her sight when she was in Primary three, says no one on this planet wants to be disabled.

Tayo cites that disabled children are being underrated right from their homes, villages, parishes, Sub Counties, schools and the district at large.

She notes that being disabled does not mean they are unable to perform when trained to do so.

Tayo appeals to the public to change the negative mindset towards the disabled children and give them the necessary support in order to live independent and constructive life.

She calls on parents not to discriminate them from other up right children because they are all hand made of the Almighty God.

Pastor defiles a 15yr old girl

Joyce Kareyo (TBS Moyo)

A Religious leader in Moyo district who preaches the Gospel of the Almighty to the people has been arrested for defiling a 15yr old pupil of Erepi Demonstration primary school in Metu Sub County Moyo District.

The long arm of the law caught up with the Arch-Deacon of Madi Arch Deaconary, Reverend William Pasi on 02/09/2011.

It is alleged that Reverend William Pasi defiled the 15 year old girl on Tuesday 30th Aug 2011.

The matter surfaced after some age mates of the minor were holding conversation about the development that caught the attention of the girl’s uncle who took actions immediately.

On interrogation the victim named Reverend Pasi as the man who defiled her and he was handed over to the police by the uncle of the girl.

By the time of filing this report Reverend Pasi was already lawfully detained at Moyo District Police Station.

Sources say Reverend Pasi is well-known for falling in love with small children and wives of other people.

Defilement is a sin before God and capital offence by law and it is not the 1st time religious leaders are shamelessly involved in the practice thus giving a bad impression to their flocks.

Dear Kareyo,

Thanks for the posts you have made on the forum. You have demonstrated commitment to raise concern on children issues. It would be good to post the audio file as well to enable us all make input in the packaging of the story or programme. The feedbck from participating stations should include the script it is a pogramme or story. This aims at improving the mind mapping, data gathering and pakaging process.

Secondly can you share more on developments since the training in Gulu and especially the team you have at TBS that is working on these issues.

King regards,

Mathias.
