This week, the winner of the letter writing competition has finally been got... "Her Excellency" Aciro Esther a primary six pupil of lira Central Primary School emerged the best beating 643 other pupils from different primary schools in Lango Sub region, with three (3) candidates from Agago district in Acholi Sub region and Six(6) from Abim district.

Dear Ronnie,

Congratulations on running such an innovative learning opportunity  for children in Lira. Letter writing is a skill on the decline  especially among the techie young generation. I recall the discussion we had over the competition and thanks for posting the winning letter.

Unfortunately the link picture is not opening. You could save it as JPEG and for the email format to make it lighter then share it again.

In the discussion we recommended to publish the winning letter and best three children  in the children page in the New Vision or Monitor as well as the Rupiny. Kindly share the copies with the editors. It would be good to have the child who wrote the winning letter read it on radio in one of the regular news bulletins.

Document the event and invite some sponsors early next time to offer the prizes. it is good to make it an annual event for the children in Lira.
I will get back with you on the alternative marketing strategy for this idea. Most important, concentrate on the children benefits.

regards,

Mathias.

Happy 2012, to everyone on the network!

And special congratulations to Ronnie for this beautiful news, and the lovely photograph of the winner. I'm so impressed that you had such a fantastic response to the competition - if you have time, can you share the winning entry with us? I'd love to read what Esther wrote. Maybe there can be a way to share her ideas with children here in South Africa.

My very best wishes to all of you. Keep up the great work ... it's so inspiring to hear what you are doing!
