Early sex putting life’s of many children in danger

Failure by parents to break the tradition of not educating children about the dangers of early sex is putting the future of the young generation to ruin.
Much as most young girls know the dangers of early sex, they are not assertive and confident enough to stand their grounds.
Two lovers and a herbalist all residents of Moyo Sub-County in Moyo district are caged in Moyo District Police Station over an attempt to abort eight Months old fetus.
The suspects, police identify as 19 year old Bazil Unzimai and his 16 year old lover names withheld a P7 pupil of Etele primary school, allegedly had sexual intercourse in April 2011 that resulted into unintended pregnancy.
Unzimai convinced the minor and took her to a herbalist the Police identify as Celina Dipio to cause the abortion but their luck ran out when the minors parents learnt about the attempts to abort the fetus.
The parents of the minor reported the case to the police that led to the arrest of the suspects on 15/09/2011 and they are yet to be produce to court.
The District Criminal Investigations Directorate officer Steven Aluonzi says charges of defilement, attempted abortion and aiding abortion shall be preferred against the three suspects respectively.
The District Police Commander Ahmed Kimera attributes the occurrence to negligence of parents to educate children about implications of early sex.
In schools, every teacher emphasizes the dangers of having sex at a tender age in class and during even assembly.
School compounds also have messages emphasizing abstinence such as, “Virginity is Healthy” and “Always Abstain”.
But the efforts exerted in schools on sex education needs to be supplemented by the parents so that the young ones are safeguarded from both sides for better future.
