check this out - Meraki seems to have booby trapped the Redboot on

Not surprising at all. They don't like open projects. Surprising
considering their roots, but not considering their recent actions.

I hope they start getting wider press about how they are closing
things down. I'd be very afraid to build my networks using their
stuff in light of all this. To build a Meraki network is to extend
their reach at your cost with unknown future benefits and costs to
your users.

We are the guys who are at their mercy and have helped them so much to
build things. We should get very vocal on as many blogs as we can if
we want to force them to change policies. I don't think they will
until it really hurts their pocketbook.

You need stories in engadget, gigaom, etc about what they are doing.
So ... start blogging away and creating those news stories.

It might be some sinister purpose, but if I were designing the
product, I would include a watchdog timer to recover from software
failures by automatically rebooting the device. This could quite
easily interfere with unanticipated flashing.
