Why: Learn about Virginia Green Restaurants and how our local dining
establishments can minimize their environmental impacts! If you are
involved in or know someone that is involved in the restaurant

Tom Griffin, a 12 year veteran of the pollution prevention field,
currently works as the Outreach Coordinator for the Virginia
Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Office of Pollution
Prevention (DEQ). At the Virginia DEQ, Griffin is responsible for
resource development, and coordinates DEQ's various voluntary
programs. Tom is best known for his work on Virginia Green, the
Commonwealth of Virginia's campaign to promote environmentally-
friendly practices in all aspects of Virginia's tourism industry.
Virginia Green was initiated in 2006, and solely focused on the
Lodging component of the industry. Since then, Virginia Green has
expanded into all sectors of the tourism industry. Tom's primary role
for Virginia Green, is to lead Virginia's Green Partnership Advisory
Group, which is responsible for developing the criteria for each of
the sectors.
