"It does not matter if the mountain tops are lowered , if the forests
are cut, if the streams and fields are polluted, if our land is
forever encumbered with easements, nor does it matter if our citizens
live, work, and play under the constant bombardment of invisible
electrical current, so that others, far from us, can enjoy
electricity. Or does it? Local elected officials from the Counties
of Frederick and Loudoun in Virginia and the Counties of Hardy,
Hampshire, and Jefferson in West Virginia are concerned. We have a
story to tell. We want to tell those who produce power, those who
regulate power, and even those who use power, to hear our story and
acknowledge our plight. We want them to consider and develop
alternatives that get the job done without hurting us and yes possibly
even help us. We want them to create and support long term win-win
solutions, not short sighted win-lose scenarios. Business-as- usual
is not good enough any longer. Long distance, cross country, high
voltage power lines are not the answer.
Local Elected Officials from Frederick, Loudoun, Hardy, Hampshire, and
Jefferson need the help of their citizens. Please contact your State
and Federal Elected Officials and ask them for their help. Ask them
to join with us and exercise the power we have given them to ensure
that alternatives are explored and the proposed Potomac-Appalachian
Transmission Highline (PATH); a 765Kv transmission line that has been
proposed to traverse our communities is not built."
