So about Fools Fest...

I know this will come as a small shock and an unpopular decision but I have made the decision to not field a Mothers team for Fools Fest. I'm sorry if you're upset by this but I did give this some thought. If someone else wants to take up the mantle and put together the team and bid by all means! As for the cone I will put together our Spring over/under game (April or May) and that's who I will choose as the next Mother Superior.

Party, is there any specific reason other than you just don't have the time or availability yourself?

Assuming that's the case...is everyone else still interested?  I could offer some help, but have no idea how it's done, have very little free time, and no creative ideas.  But other than that, how can I help? 😀

Early bids are due Jan 28...and regular bids by Feb 25.  Do we usually submit an early bid?  I assume that's preferable.

Any creative ideas out there for a commercial video bid?  Or for spirit games?

Thank you so much for sending this. I have reached out to some individuals but I appreciate your response on the group thread. I am extremely interested and willing to help. I am a bit limited by distance but will contribute as much as possible to get this going. Is there someone willing to take the lead on this? Fools committee?

imho mother superior should be super stoked about the mothers (i.e. pickup) and maybe not trying out to make competitive club teams elsewhere.

not your fault Party, the withering responsibility was thrust upon you.

so the way i see it, super stoked folks should step up if you want to play fools. and let's maybe get Sunday pickup going again at OWG on the reg? I'm old and injured but I'll assist anyone who wants to jump the gun.

Are there any volunteers to form a 2024 Fools Fest planning committee? I am happy to help out. I already have some ideas for a theme, bid video and at least one spirit game. Brain stormers are welcome! A videographer and bid submitter would likely be needed as this is not my field of expertise. Tell your friends. 

This is my only form of communication with the Mothers, so if there is another feed someplace else, I would like to be included.

Thank you, Ron!  As I said before, I'm also happy to contribute where I can, and happy to be part of the committee.  

As for other communication, that's a good question.  There's also facebook...are you on there, Ron?  What I see for communication (did I miss anything?):

1) This google group: 118 people, but nobody new for nearly 4 years, and the vast majority have been here 10+ years.  So pretty much the old school.  I suspect a significant percentage are retired, moved, or otherwise not really reading this.  So far this conversation has only included 5 people though, and I know there's more active members than that!  Anyone else out there interested in playing?  Interested in helping as part of this Fools planning committee?

2)  Facebook - "Fredericksburg Mothers" account that can be used to share info.  Party and most of the former mother superiors probably have login info for this, but it's likely a very similar audience to this email.  Better served for sharing photos and such.  And not used often, especially in last 4-5 years.

3)  Facebook - "Staffburg Ultimate" group.  This is a wider audience (365 members).  More active in recent years, but many of them are more casual players (i.e. more interested in pickup than organized tournaments).  I'll post something here though today.

4) Good ol' fashioned word of mouth.  Everyone can help here.  We likely need to recruit some more players, especially females.  I'm guessing several MMPs have been quiet, but will eventually come out of the woodwork and sign up.  But I'm concerned about having enough active ladies on the roster.
