Wildlife Technician – Aerial Imagery Review

Duration: 3 months with opportunities to extend, 9 months maximum
Purpose: Researchers with Colorado Parks and Wildlife are investigating new methods for estimating abundance of ungulate populations. Specifically, we are using a high-resolution camera mounted to an airplane to photograph survey units and count and classify wildlife species. We are using an AI model to identify animals within the imagery and seek a technician to assist with validation.
Job description: Technician will contribute to evaluation of aerial imagery for population estimates of ungulates. Duties will primarily involve reviewing and identifying animals in aerial imagery. Technician may also help with other tasks as needed. This position is primarily office-based with some opportunities to assist with field efforts.
Technician will need to be detail oriented and able to focus on single tasks for extended amounts of time.
Technicians with experience or interest in data management, AI, or software development would be preferred. Technician will be based out of Fort Collins, CO. Housing is not provided.
