Hello all,

I just wanted to send a quick message to congratulate the team for winning its second Chairman’s Award in team history!  If you missed it, you can see the announcement by FIRST Mid-Atlantic here.

For those of you who are new to the FIRST, the Chairman’s Award is described by FIRST here:

“The Chairman’s Award is the most prestigious award at FIRST, it honors the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the mission of FIRST. It was created to keep the central focus of FIRST Robotics Competition on the ultimate goal of transforming the culture in ways that will inspire greater levels of respect and honor for science and technology, as well as encouraging more of today’s youth to become science and technology leaders.”

As you can imagine, this award doesn’t come easily.  It takes years of effort and vision by our students, mentors, and supporters to build a strong program to be recognized among all of the other strong programs in our region (district).  We are absolutely grateful to all of our parents and sponsors who support us and our vision.

We would also like to send special thanks and congratulations to our Business & Marketing department for putting together the submission and representing our team at the judging session.  They prepared and practiced with precision over the past few months, and it is wonderful to see all of their hard work payoff!

Our team doesn’t do what we do for the awards.  We do what we do for each other, our schools, and community.  With that having been said, it is nice to be recognized as a model team among many in the FIRST community.  Enjoy the moment!

Clap, clap, whoosh!

Mr. Knauss
