Coronavirus Communication – March 6, 2020

FIRST and FIRST Mid-Atlantic (FMA) take the health, safety and well-being of our students, coaches, mentors and volunteers with the utmost priority. Following CDC, FIRST HQ and event venue guidance, FMA will be taking the following measures at each of our events:

  •  Safety Glasses: Safety Glasses will not be available for sign-out. Coaches/Mentors, please remember to bring enough safety glasses for your students. If you do not have safety glasses, you will either need to obtain them on your own or sit in the spectator viewing area. Volunteers, please remember to bring your safety glasses with you, as only a small number will be available and then will not get re-used.
  •  Awards Ceremony High Five Line: Judges will not be high-fiving students and coaches during the awards ceremony celebration. Students and coaches are invited down to the field to be celebrated, pass through the line with applause from the judges and then proceed to get their picture taken.
  • Finals Handshake: We will invite the final two alliances out onto the field prior to Finals Match 1. Instead of the customary handshake, students can bow, wave, dance, etc. across the field from one another.
  •  Drivers Stations: We will wipe down drivers station with disinfectant wipes at different timepoints throughout the event
  •  Practice Good Hygiene: Remember to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water. Venues will be making sure bathrooms are stocked accordingly.
  •  CDC Guidance: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/prevention-treatment.html

At this time, all of our events are continuing on as planned. We will continue to keep teams and volunteers updated on any changes.
