Hello all,

We wanted to take a moment to update everyone on post spring break robotics plans and to also make you aware of some team events on the calendar to wrap up the year.

I’m going to be referencing our calendar throughout this email.  Event details can all be found here - https://www.stormroboticsnj.org/calendar

Award Ceremonies

You all did excellent work on all of our projects throughout the course of the year and now it’s time to see what the judges think of our work!  FIRST Mid-Atlantic has divided the judging into two awards shows.  The first show will be on Saturday, April 10th at 6pm and will focus on the Chairman’s and Dean’s List Awards.  The second show will focus on all other awards and will be held on Saturday, May 15th at 6pm.  The shows will be streamed on YouTube and links have been provided on the calendar for those webcasts.  Have Slack up and running for some team chatter during those events!

Post Season Meetings

Thank you to all students who completed our survey about participating in the post season.  We understand that many of you have a lot of commitments and may also have some online school burnout making it totally fine to not participate in the robotics post season.  We hope that you all will join us for the other events listed below.

The teachers have met and decided to host the following topics as a part of our post season.  All dates for these meetings are listed on our calendar.

  1. Innovation Challenge – Ms. Miller will be coordinating this group online and in-person (details will be shared to all interested).  We need software members to help with the app development of this project.
  2. BAM Operations – Ms. Brown and BAM members will be doing their typical end of the year wrap up things and will also be looking at the Crayon Project as it stands right now.  A few meetings may have the option to be run in person.
  3. Virtual Meeting Topics – The main topic I will be hosting here will be CAD design.  We’ll see where that takes us and will also be open to other topics for learning and discussion related to all things robotics.
  4. T-shirt Cannon Bot – Mr. Smith is going to be meeting in person for this project.  The goal is to get a prototype together for this project.

Please formally commit to the post season by completing this form and expressing your interest in any of the areas above.

Other Events

Please mark these team-wide events down on your calendar!  These are for all members, even those who do not participate in the post season.

  • Award Ceremonies – April 10th and May 15th (see above)
  • Roadside Cleanups – May 1st and June 19th at 9am (details will be shared leading up to these dates)
  • End of Year Wrap-up Event - May 27th at 5pm
  • Panchero’s Restaurant Fundraiser – June 2nd from 4-8pm

Have a safe and restful Spring Break everyone!

Clap, clap, whoosh!
