Hello all,
Some of you may have heard that 2 FIRST Mid-Atlantic (FMA) District events have been cancelled in our region in order to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus. As of this email our next district competition at Seneca is still scheduled to take place but with some new limitations.
The first limitation is that spectators of any kind will not be allowed into the event. All attendees must be registered with their FRC team or previously registered as a volunteer with FMA. Unfortunately this means that we will need to ask all of our parents and other supporters to stay home for the remainder of the season. I will be sending webcast information out via email before each of our events to make sure that all of our supporters can watch the team complete online.
Additionally, it looks as though FMA may limit the number of attendees a team can bring to an event moving forward. I would imagine that this kind of limitation will impact our team with us being so large. We haven’t received anymore information on this but will communicate any and all information out to the team after it has been received and discussed with the coaches.
The PDF attached to this email adds to these details and also includes other points of information for events moving forward.
Students – There were a few of you who were asked to complete paper registration forms for FIRST and FIRST Mid-Atlantic before Hatboro. By my understanding of the attached PDF, you MUST complete FIRST Registration online in order to be able to enter the event. Please see email me if you have any questions about your registration status. It sounds like they are going to verify every member of a team as they enter the event to make sure team’s aren’t sneaking in extra members.
Finally, a few of you have asked about what could happen with the team if the school closes for any reason. It’s simple – if the school is closed, the team doesn’t meet and there is no robotics. With that, we’ll treat each of our meetings as if it’s the last one before we complete!
