We are looking for a highly
technical and analytical individual to join our team in Foster City, CA.
The ideal candidate has a passion for learning new technologies,
researching, collecting and maintaining numerous massive data sets.
Essential to your success is your ability to communicate with both
technical and business users including developers, tech leads, editors,
writers, freelance data researchers, and data providers. You will automate
and improve processes for finding, acquiring, creating, cleaning up,
delivering, updating and maintaining huge data sets for a various Website
initiatives.
Required Skills:
• Highly proficient in MS Excel including ability to record, write or edit
macros (familiarity with Visual Basic is a plus)
• Comfortable using multiple technologies such as Google docs, Dropbox,
HTML, XML, FTP, browser plug-ins, etc.
• Ability to search for, quickly learn to use and evaluate tools to for
data gathering, storage and delivery
• Strong research skills, including the capacity to locate and collect
hard-to-find information online
• Ability to juggle multiple projects at once, and shift gears quickly
• Significant experience working with massive relational databases,
queries, SQL, Oracle, MySQL, etc.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Basic understanding of online marketing and media and web technologies
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (Computer
Science related is ideal)
Desired/Preferred
Qualifications:
• Some experience coding in any programming or scripting language is highly
desired
• Data pulling, data scraping, Visual Basic, GREP, Perl, or DBA experience
is preferred
• Knowledge of these is a plus: Java, core Java, JSP, servlets, Spring,
Hibernate, caches, web & application servers (Tomcat/Apache/JBoss),
PHP, HTML, CSS, jQuery, JSON, XML, Linux, development on enterprise class
applications

The Data Services Department is responsible for locating, collecting, and
organizing data sets to generate and/or enhance content for various Web
sites. Data collection subject areas include mortgage, credit cards,
banking, deposit products, insurance, home services, home improvement, lawn
care, employment, education, medical and health (diabetes websites, for
example), and business-to-business. Working with data sets requires strong
research skills, sharp attention to detail, and the abilities to problem
solve, troubleshoot, and learn new concepts and technologies with ease. The
right candidate will have proven experience working both independently and
as part of a team, and a natural talent for multi-tasking.
