Sherif, you’re receiving this email as a trusted Victorian supporter. We have a march and demonstration planned for this Saturday, and this is your invitation. We’re also asking you to share it with your local church leadership... urgently!
The Victorian Legislative Council (Upper House) meets next Tuesday to debate the dangerous Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Bill 2020, which has already passed the Lower House. So this is our last chance to take a bold, strong and public stand at the steps of Parliament House in the Melbourne CBD.
We’re meeting just up the road from Parliament House at the Carlton Gardens. We’d love you to come but not alone – please gather a group of trusted Christian friends, such as your church small group, and come together!
There is no time to waste, so we’re marching this Saturday, 30th January. That’s why it’s so urgent that you forward this email to trusted Christian friends (only!) who can join us at short notice. Please start with your church leadership.
We’re gathering at 10:00am at the south-east corner of the Carlton Gardens – you’ll see us! – and setting off for Parliament House at 10:30am. We’ve prepared a handful of placards or you can bring your own, using one of these messages, for consistency:
- Prayers are not crimes!
- Respect religious freedom, Dan!
- Protect parental rights!
- Hey Dan, hands off my parenting!
- Vote against the Conversion Bill!
- Adults are free to choose!
This needs to be a COVID-Safe event, with police supervising and the reputation of the Melbourne Christian community at stake, so we ask everyone to be on their best behaviour, not least by social distancing. And you must bring a mask.
