Have you tried the new card catalog system on Family Search.  They are digitizing their books and putting them online.  You have to register first but all they ask is your name and email adr.  Then you choose a user name and password for yourself and your in business.  I have been reading the rev war books, and visitations of England.  There's a ton of stuff on there already.  Just type in a name or a key word and it brings up lots of stuff.  Kind of the same way it does on Ancestry only it's free. It's all in PDF format so you can down load it to your hard drive if you want to.  I saw Jordan, Page, Clayton, Stout and many other names in the search engine.  I feel like it's christmas in July and I got lots of presents.
