Latin / Greek words in Genealogy

I have been using Wikipedia to look up some words I didn't know the meaning of.  I thought I would share the meanings.

 

Filius    means a male, as in son of

 

Uxor    refers to a wife or spouse or consort    [Latin]

 

Consort    a husband, wife, companion, or partner

 

Vxor        wife

 

I found these words in the visitation of Cheshire in England.  I'm trying to find the proof on some of my lines that goes back to England.  These visitations are found on Google and also on Family Search card catalog.  No wonder I can't trace these people, I don't speak Latin or Greek :)
