I looked Sheldons adr up in the white pages.  Then I brought up Google Earth.  It's clear from the pictures the fire did not get to Sheldons neighborhood.  I'm glad of that.

But you sure can tell where the fire did go.

So thankful he is okay ... I  read where there was one death, 35,000 people were forced from their home and over 300 homes burnt.  Waldo Canyon Fire in Colorado Springs was horrible. Thankfully God is answering prayers and  cooler temperatures with lighter winds has calmed the situation greatly. Know those firefighters have to got to be worn to a frazzle. Praying it will all be out soon and praying God will bring the rains and cooler temperatures here!!  Everybody have a good day. Kaye

two deaths (we have heard they were in their 70’s – but not sure how confirmed this is) – they said this morning they have accounted for the other 8 or so that were missing, so this should be it – amazing to me as I was within a few blocks of where the firestorm blew down the ridge last Tuesday afternoon into the northwest part of Colorado Springs.

Still holding at 347 homes destroyed, we are now finding that several have “burn holes in roofs” and “burn areas in yards” – lots of ash and smoke issues as well.

Thankfully, they are really getting a handle on the fire – 45% containment this afternoon.  Mandatory evacuations are being lifted in stages – severely affected areas are now in the process of getting electricity back on and gas turned back on (the most difficult).

Thanks for all your Prayers and Support – been a rough time for Colorado Springs.  I have just been displaced from work for a while, others suffered a whole lot more.

Take Care All,

SRJ

It is so good to hear from you again.  We were all worried about you.  My heart goes out to all those people who lost everything they spent a life time acquiring.  The same for tornadoes, floods etc.  Here everything has burned up from no rain and record breaking temp's.  Can you believe 108 deg at Mt Vernon this week, and  more to come.  Crops have failed and farmers are feeding hay to cattle already.  I talked to a gentleman in Miss. this morning on my radio and he says its the same way there.  It has been a very strange year.  No winter last winter and very early spring, and now this heat.  We may be planting cactus next year if this  keeps up.

I'm glad to know you and your family are ok.  What would we do without you Sheldon.
