Dear Christian Friends,
I am right now studying to tell the Bible story to the 3 year olds at
church Sunday. The story is about Jonah, refusing to follow God and tell
the people of Ninevah about their evil behavior and how their evil behavior will
bring punishment. Did you know Ninevah is on the Tigirs River in what is
now Northern Iraq? The very same place as the conflict now between the
ISIS Muslim terrorists and the Kurdish people. They are standing on the
same dessert land that Jonah was being sent to warn. We have many
Christian families being supported by Servant Group International that are doing
right now what Jonah was sent to do, there are schools that are teaching a
generation of Kurdish children a Christian World View, with books in English
that are bought and sent from right here in Nashville. Those people are in
a violent time, just like Jonah being tossed about in a ship on the sea,
As I was studying this came on my IPad and I could not believe that I was
studying about the very same place as this world news and violence is taking
place right now. Please read the communication below and if there is
any way to donate to the cause, click on the Go Fund Me website. I do hope
the churches and presbytery here in Middle Tennessee will take up the cause and
speak of this in churches here Sunday. These are not times to run away and
neglect these people as Jonah tried to do.

“Churches in
Erbil are working very hard to stand
with and support thousands of displaced
Christians…” They need
our help. We have ways that you can join
with them and us in this
effort.
Last night the US airstrikes helped, but
it remains uncertain if that will be enough to
keep ISIS from invading Erbil or other Kurdish
cities. All of the main cities are beginning to
fill up with refugees: Christian, Yezidi, and
Muslim. Our local partners are
working to provide food, water, bedding, shelter,
medical care, and kindness. Camps are under
construction to provide shelter to families who
have been living in the streets, sleeping wherever
there is grass or shade.
One of our local
partners reports: “Church buildings (all
denominations) and other facilities that have been
used as shelters are overcrowded with families.
You cannot imagine these families’ poor
conditions, food, water, and other basic supplies
like mattresses and clothes are desperately needed
despite all the efforts from different
Governmental and Nongovernmental
aid. “We think there
will be a food crisis very soon. Please, if there
is any possibility of getting any donation to
support them with food and water, now is the time
for it.” This obviously brings
us all to what so many of you have asked about.
What can we do? How can we help? It is
impossible to get supplies into the country right
now, but money can help as our partners work to
provide for those who have nothing. We are
also working to provide for the safety of our
teams. Both are expensive
tasks. We have set up a webpage where
you can help. Please click on the button below to
donate and share this need with others. All
donations are tax deductible. For
those of you who follow our work with the School
of the Medes in Iraq, they are planning to open in
a few weeks according to schedule. However, the
situation is unstable and things can change
quickly. Finally, please consider
writing your congressmen to voicesupport for the
Kurdish people. The Kurds have long been US allies
and are now sacrificing to receive and care for
thousands of displaced Christians, Yezidis, and
others.
 Thank you for your
prayers and support, Servant Group
International
