I'm piggybacking off of a previous HFG email so hoping this reaches you.
Dear Class and HFG,
You did it again. Our continued success in petitioning God to reveal his greatness became apparent again to me yesterday. I had an ileoscopy scheduled yesterday to explore my innards from the ostomy end after removal of my colon. I haven't been on meds since the initial surgery and the doc wanted to allows for some healing before determining what measures needed to be taken. I was expecting to hear that maybe the Crohn's was diminished and we would cut back on the meds. When I awoke from sedation the doc showed me pictures of a clean, normal intestine and said I was Crohn's free. Yes, free of any disease!! He didn't have to take any tissue samples. I haven't heard those words since I was 14 years old. He did say that it more than likely would come back but we would be on the offensive by monitoring it every six months. Also, it appears that the fistula has closed itself and I'm having no more drainage.
I know we have been praying for months, not only for a successful recovery, but for COMPLETE healing. After 2 surgeries in 3 days, 59 days in hospital/rehab, all the issues with the fistula and antibiotics, God has answered prayer in a tremendous way. I never imagined that the Crohn's would be eradicated; even if for an unknown time. I think God wanted to teach me once again that continued faith, patience, perseverance, and prayer without ceasing can result in Him rewarding me in the most awesome of ways. Since we aren't meeting for regular SS or HFG I just had to share this awesome news.
God is gooder than I ever imagined,
Larry
