CHRISTMAS 2012 JOYCE KENNEDY
Tennessee has enjoyed such a warm fall that it is hard to believe that Christmas is here. Temperature is dropping today to the 30's so I had better get busy on the Christmas letter. I have enjoyed the lovely music performed by local churches the past weekend. The candles, lighting, orchestra and choral music lifts the spirit and ushers in the Advent season. We are so blessed in Nashville to have quality musicians offering their talents to worship our Lord and Savior. I also enjoyed the imaginative presentation of Dickens “A Christmas Carol” presented by a new theater group Studio TN.
Last January I went on a cruise to the Bahamas with my sister, Gayle. The best thing about a cruise is the food, we did enjoy the feasts put before us 24 hours a day. Upon my return, the next day I walked into a Weight Watchers meeting and have been doing that ever since. I am glad to say that in 2012, I have lost 25 pounds and this coming January Gayle and I are going to a condo in Florida and feast on seafood and salads. I think that is my biggest accomplishment for the year.
I have been able to keep up with the ushering at TPAC and SSC, Bible Study, the Vanderbilt Lifelong Learning classes, Water Aerobics and Yoga at the Y, outings with the Glory Girls ( a group of friends that like to go out together) and several church groups. I am blessed to feel good and have the energy to enjoy so many activities.
In April I took a trip to see Karen in New York. She was singing in her church choir for Easter. We also visited Ithaca and surrounding countryside. In May Mark's parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Knoxville, a great family get together with family and friends coming from all over. After the celebration we went to spend a few days enjoying the beauty of the Smoky Mountains at Townsend, TN at our favorite Tremont Campground. In June I went back to visit with Karen as she bought a house in Cortland and I helped to unpack. She has a very nice remodeled 100 year old home, that the previous owner gutted and remade the kitchen and bathroom, refinished wood floors, new windows and roof. We did enjoy some beautiful drives in the countryside and finger lakes. Peaceful pastoral settings everywhere. In September I took my first touring bus trip. I went with my friend Carolyn Cooper to Upper Peninsula of Michigan on a Fall Foliage trip. It was such fun and “Carefree” (the name of our tour company) In October I went with the Browers on an outdoor camping trip to Fall Creek Falls. The rainy times were outshined by the fun we had eating with the other families and hiking. I will spend Christmas with Karen while the Browers will be in Florida.
I pray God's blessings on each of you and that you will have a great 2013.
Love to you , Joyce
