Parents,

Today we started our unit on STEM in order to develop an Egg Craft that will survive a second story drop with a raw egg inside of it.

Students are NOT to look up how to do this at home on any device. No outside books for reference. No help from you.

This is an in class experiment that they are doing with a partner and can only work on it in class.

ALSO- no outside materials should be sent in or brought to school. I am purposely giving them limited items and stuff that they wouldn't ordinarily use in order to create their crafts. This is a thinking activity and they have to trouble shoot the problem.

They will be graded on creativity, design, engineering, and collaborative thinking.

Just wanted to make sure you all knew before they get home and tell you a different version of events. THEY ARE super excited.

We are also doing some sugar and water experiments in Spanish- I have a few more tricks up my sleeve before school is done- so please keep absences to a minimum. When kids are out or leave early, it hurts the partner work tremendously and the kids are super bummed themselves.  If you can of course.

Graded work to go home to you later this week. PLEASE return signed progress report slips, signed Math tests coming home today- 5th grade parents, and return any and all documents sent home in the Thursday folders last week.
