Can someone tell me wtf was that email I received about there being spam or some shit like that and posts need manually approving? I take it someone has sorted it but what was it all about?
How ever I beleive you can push it through with ADB, or the simple way is the using the 'back up / restore' feature in Franco app, save the stock kernel.img and then restore it for OTA, or flash a google factory rom and dont flash the user data so the device isn't wiped clean (although recommended if switching roms). The device still gets wiped for boot loader unlocking (same as tuna) and if you get your son one get the 32gb version if you can (you saw how much better it performs) and you can help test more stuff when you can steal it off him ;)
Just keep the boot loader unlocked so it won't wipe every time if you had to unlock again for some reason.
So really nothing to worry about. You could probably get your Verizon GN going too. :) Steve's right, you can receive OTAs just fine, they just won't pass the asserts to apply automatically but you can just revert what you changed (ie. kernel) and then flash the OTA in custom recovery instead. Also means you never have to wait to receive it yourself. Just download once the URL drops and you're all set.
Remember you made a big difference to the scene. I'm still getting pull requests from github all the time for people cherry picking the hardcoded values.
And if you ever run into someone running f.K on one of the current Nexus devices and want to show off, just have them go to Terminal Emulator then su -c cat /sbin/fkbootscript.sh and you can point out that's your nick at the front of the list. :)
All the best bro.
