Devastatedby this, Maria consoled herself by dancing the nights away at the cantinas. Wearing a striking white dress, she attracted the notice of many rich men. Maria lived for this attention. In fact, so enamored with her exciting lifestyle, she neglected her two young boys by leaving them alone night after night.

Sadly, one evening, word came to her that her sons had tragically drowned in the nearby river. There were even whispers that Maria drowned the two little boys herself circulated throughout the town. People thought the boys were an obstacle to her marrying a rich man. However, this suspicion was never substantiated.

Did Maria kill her children by her own hand, or simply through neglect? Regardless of the true facts, the woman who became the infamous La Llorona wailing ghost is said to suffer terrible guilt and remorse. She is doomed to wander the land looking for her lost boys.

The legend continues by claiming that overcome by terrible grief; Maria searches the river banks night and day for her two lost sons. Interestingly, she wears the same fancy white dress she wore nightly to the cantinas.

Not long after, the legend of La Llorona was born. People began hearing weeping and wailing and, sometimes loud moaning in the dead of night. The spine-tingling cries would come closer and then fade into the distance. This would occur over and over.

Along with the frightful wailing, sightings of a tall woman in white at dusk on the banks of the river began to surface. Other sightings claimed a white figure of a woman would float across the river and then disappear into the trees.

In the spring of 1954, a young woman named, JoAnn, was traveling from Las Vegas to Pueblo, Colorado, with her husband, brother-in-law, and cousin. They were heading north to find work in the fields and orchards.

As migratory workers, her family traveled from place to place where work could be found. Small dwellings are provided for the workers and often shared with other families. JoAnn shudders when she recalls one very eventful night in such a place.

Just after midnight, her group heard a loud moaning noise coming from the nearby river. The sound was slowly coming closer and closer. Frightened, the families came pouring out of their hovels wondering what the noise could be. Terrified, they huddled together. Finally, braver men got into their cars and trucks to investigate.

The men used headlights of cars and large flashlights to investigate the river and pinpoint where the awful moaning was coming from. Just when they closed in on the chilling sound, the wailing moved to the opposite side of the river.

Back across the river the little caravan went, following the wailing sound and then, as before, the sound switched again to the other side. This went on about four times until they finally decided to give up. Just then, the moaning ceased as suddenly as it had begun, and all was eerily quiet.

The woman was very tall, thin, and dressed in white. Fascinated, the group watched as she seemed to glide above the ground, and then crossed a nearby ravine onto a road. They did not recognize her from the area but there was definitely something truly frightening about this figure.

Stunned by what they had witnessed, Patricio and his family rushed out to where she had traversed, but found no footprints. They realized then, they must have seen the frightening specter of La Llorona.

Sworn to by family members to this day, another sighting of La Llorona involved a young impetuous man by the name of Epifanio Garcia. Epifanio was a rebellious son and often at odds with his parents. After one especially heated argument, Epifanio, accompanied by his brothers Carlos and Augustine, decided they would leave their ranch at Ojo de La Vaca and travel towards the Villa Real de Santa Fe.

Traveling in a farm cart, the two oldest, Epifanio and Carlos were sitting in front with Augustine in the back. Turning onto the old Santa Fe Trail at Apache Ridge, the brothers in the front jumped when they realized a strange thin woman was sitting between them. It seemed she appeared out of nowhere.

The terrified boys continued on and the woman kept staring straight ahead not moving. Epifanio wanted to stop the horses but feared something terrible would happen if he did. Finally, the three young men, each in turn, talked with the phantom, but all attempts were met with dismal silence.

Although several variations exist, one version of the story tells of a beautiful woman by the name of Maria that kills her children in revenge because her husband left her for a younger woman. Ultimately, she drowns herself in a river.

It the story of La Llorona true or is it an adult cautionary tale to frighten naughty children? Regardless, witnesses who claim to have seen the legendary La Llorona say that she usually appears at night. Moreover, sightings of her are reported as far north as Montana. Chillingly, some even believe that those who hear the wails of La Llorona are marked for death, which is similar to the Gaelic Banshee.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut took the 2020 game we fell in love with and revamped it for the PlayStation 5. If the Last of Us 2 didn't exist, Ghost of Tsushima would have arguably taken home every award at the 2020 game awards, including Game of the Year. We'll likely see the same results with 2021's nominees. But, with such positive fan feedback, the team at Sucker Punch knew they had to deliver on something special. With plenty to unpack, let's talk about everything new on Iki Island in Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut.

Warning: Minor spoilers ahead! We won't be giving away any character-building or story progression spoilers in this article. We've only mentioned new abilities to unlock, enemies you'll fight, and collectibles you'll find on Iki Island.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut made sure to include new Mythic Tales. Arguably one of the most interesting parts of the base game, Mythic Tales tell stories of Japanese folklore, sending Jin on epic quests to unlock legendary items. Gosaku's Armor and Tadayori's Armor are just two of many examples. New to Iki Island is the Sarugami Armor and The Legend of Black Hand Riku. Here's how to unlock the Sarugami Armor in Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut.

Jin Sakai is back and better than ever, thanks to the upgraded release of Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut. Aside from taking advantage of the PlayStation 5's hardware to improve visuals and performance, Sucker Punch went the extra mile by adding in an entirely new region with this expansion. Set on the titular Iki Island, Jin will have a new quest to complete that hits very close to home for this conflicted samurai-turned-ghost. Just like the main game, though, the main quest is just one part of what you can do on this brand new island.

Iki is home to all sorts of side content, including side quests, collectibles, and brand new challenges, like the Archery Challenges. These are sort of the companion to the bamboo challenges from the main game, only instead of testing your skills with the blade, you're given unique tests for your aim and speed with a bow. Completing the first will reward you with a brand new charm, and doing the subsequent challenges will further improve that charm's effects. Iki is a big place, so we'll guide you to each Archery Challenge location here.

Ghost of Tsushima has some new surprises in store for fans of the game. Recently, Sucker Punch released an update for the game that added a multiplayer mode called Legends. This multiplayer mode allows players to play through a co-op story, run 4-player survival missions, and challenge their abilities with weekly nightmare missions.

Not only that, but each class in the multiplayer mode gets access to tiered gear that enhances their abilities. Some of this gear, of course, is legendary. These legendary items offer some of the best abilities to use against the Mongols, so it is only fitting to go over what they actually do.

Updated June 16th, 2021 by Aden Carter: Even though there are no new legendary items that have been added to the online mode of Ghost of Tsushima, many players have come to notice ways of making new builds with the ones available. Some of the legendary items in the game are able to be combined to pull off some impressive feats. Not all of these legendary items are created equal, however, so a few are avoided. New builds for the online have proven to be extremely effective against the Mongol hordes.

This katana is an essential piece of gear for anyone who loves switching between stances to gain an advantage on the battlefield. Those who have played the Legends Mode know that each katana has one stance. A second stance can be added if the katana comes equipped with it or is rerolled to get it.

This can be annoying and takes away from other abilities the katanas can have. However, that isn't a worry with the legendary Master's Katana. This katana comes with the ability to switch between all four stances, freeing up the perk slot on it for another ability.

The Demon Cutter has got to be the Mongol's worst enemy, or at least one of the worst. The perk of this legendary katana gives the player a thirty percent chance of throwing nearby enemies whenever they stagger an opponent.

In other words, this katana is made for crowd control. Imagine running into a group of enemies, staggering one, and everyone else getting thrown backward by a mysterious force. That is the power of the Demon Cutter.

Any fans of Heavenly Strike? If the answer is yes, then players should hope that the Stone Striker katana drops for them. This katana gives the player access to the Heavenly Strike ability without it consuming a perk slot.
