For anyone that's not already hip, the vast majority of TV shows and movies offer a french audio track, and sometimes matching closed captions! There are dubs for the old Disney shows like hannah montana and suite life, the simpsons, phineas and ferb, home alone, all the marvel movies.... seriously a goldmine
Unfortunately, a lot of things don't have accompanying subtitles, and when they do they're usually non-CC subtitles and don't match the french audio much at all. BUT, i've found that there's a decent amount of movies that have Canadian french CC that perfectly match the Canadian french audio (star wars, all the marvel movies, and national treasure, to name a few)
This completely depends on what you want to focus on and the level you are at. For example, when I am a beginner and I want to watch a show that is more advanced, I usually turn on the subtitles since the main goal is to learn more vocabulary.
Also, keep in mind that subtitles are almost never exactly what the person on the show is saying. The characters are speaking usually quite fast and the subtitles are more of a summary of what they are trying to say.
