Have you ever wanted to use your phone as a TV remote? With the SmartThings app, you can effortlessly control various aspects of your Samsung TV, from adjusting the volume to launching apps and switching between inputs. Before you begin trying to control your TV from your smart phone, make sure that the TV has been added to SmartThings as a device. A Samsung Account and internet connection are required.*

The volume and channel controls work the same way they would on a normal remote. You also have access to Mute, Home, Back, and Guide. Use the arrows or the gray box at the bottom to navigate the Settings menu or apps. Tap anywhere in the box to make a selection.

I am trying to get amazon to work with my (model number UN46F6400AF) 46" Series 6 TV added to smart things so I can turn it on and off with alexa devices (smart show 5, show 8, pixel 6). When I go to add the device to smart things under the Samsung products listed I cannot find my TV. My tv is wireless ready, connected, and samsung account is logged in. My tv has something called Smart Hub but I cannot search the Samsung apps and find SmartThings or Amazon Alexa. My firmware is on the latest update version. Can anyone help me? I just want to be able to use Alexa to turn my TV on and off, then display my Wyze cam whenever a person is detected. Not asking much. It already works with my FireTV

I have a new Series 8 Crystal UHD TV. It is connected to the internet and the preinstalled apps, like Netflix work. However, it will not install any apps (Spectrum, HBO MAX, HBO GO, Disney +). When I select "Install" it looks like it begins to install and displays a zero (0), like it is beginning. However it stays like that for a moment, then goes back to app info page.

Have tried 3 different methods of contacting Samsung but it seems no customer service is available right now, so here goes. The problem is simple: I have insufficient storage space so cannot install my TV's software update. Here's the thing though, I have deleted all the apps I possibly can. I only had 3 that I installed, so got rid of them. Now I'm left with the bloatware (apps that came already installed and that cannot be deleted or disabled). The option to delete is greyed out. The update requires over 100MB, I have 93.96MB available.

While we previously offered apps for the following smart TV platforms and models, they are no longer actively supported. An older version of our app may still be available on the devices, but the old app will not be receiving updates, may not be compatible with newer features or server releases, and could stop being functional in the future.

The last thing anyone wants to be thinking about when you're halfway through Moon Knight is making sure the apps on your smart TV are up-to-date so there are no interruptions. To keep things working in tip-top shape, we're going to show you how to update the apps on a Samsung smart TV to take advantage of the latest features and even security updates.

A little TV app maintenance is good from time to time, and while your TV will likely send you notifications when new versions of apps are available to install as well, we're going to show you how to set your Samsung TV to update apps automatically and manually.

We'll get into how to set your TV to automatically update apps below, but assuming you haven't already set that feature up (or else why would you be here?), here's how to manually navigate to your app, as well as check and install available updates.

Step 1: From your Samsung TVs home screen, locate and select your TV's Apps menu. This is where you'll find all of your TV's installed apps, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and others.

Step 2: Select one of the apps you want to check and click it. When the window opens with the app's information, there will be a button that will say Open if the app is up-to-date. If there's an update available, the button will say, you guessed it, Update. Select it and the update will download and install itself.

In this scenario, a fair solution to enjoy your desired apps from your Samsung Smart TV is installing third-party TPK files of them! The internet offers you several how-to guides to accomplish this, but it is natural to find the process a little too complicated. However, fret not, you do not need to be a developer from a Samsung TV app development to install outside apps on your Samsung Smart TV. In this blog, I will try to explain the steps in a way that you can do it on your own TV even if you are not too used to technical jargon.

A sound way to get around this is downloading TPK files for the apps you want and then installing them via SDB. Or you can also directly copy them to the TV device and thereafter install these third-party apps on any Samsung smart TV. To find out how to establish a debug bridge and enable your TV to run applications from unknown sources, continue reading.

Tizen OS offers a debug bridge that gets connected through USB or Wi-Fi to debug any Samsung TV, install apps as well as copy data with administrator permissions, similar to the debug bridge for Android.

For typical TV viewers who are not familiar with tech speak, installing third-party apps could seem a little intimidating. Additionally, selecting the appropriate TPK files is essential to safeguarding your systems from malware intrusions. I hope this blog will help you install third-party apps on your Samsung Smart TV quite easily. But remember that you can always get help if you need it! It will be a great idea to get in touch with Samsung support for extra assistance if you run into problems while attempting to install third-party apps on your Samsung TV. They are always a good source of personal assistance in this matter and they would also be able to properly inform you if your TV permits the installation of the files.

Amazon may not be the original streaming service, but it's no slouch when it comes to piping you the best TV has to offer, and that's why it deserves a place among the best smart TV apps of 2020. Recent years have seen a steady supply of exclusive shows, such as Good Omens, The Man in the High Castle and Vikings.

Our next pick is a little different from the other smart TV apps on this list. Instead of streaming videos from a service, PLEX allows you to curate a collection of your own on a media server and stream it to whichever device you want.

Many of HBOs top shows, such as the aforementioned The Wire or the sublimely crafted True Blood are available on Amazon Prime Video, but HBOs own apps get access to shows immediately after they're broadcast rather than when the boxset is available to everyone else.

A few years ago, the BBC only made shows available for 30 days after their first broadcast, but that has since changed and now offers full seasons of most shows and the complete runs of its most popular series.

For those who don't have a smart TV, Peacock is easily accessible on several other platforms and devices. Users can stream it on a web browser like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. And of course, there are also apps available for Android and iPhone. For those who prefer to watch on their TV, the Peacock app can be accessed on streaming sticks and devices like Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Chromecast, and Apple TV.
