Out of nowhere my Vaio VPCSA stopped detecting the battery. My battery was working fine. I was getting a couple hours of streaming video on just the battery. Then last night, while on AC, the battery status in the status bar switched to "No battery is detected" and the battery charging LED is off. I've tried the following to correct the issue:

bios update for sony battery zip

Hey guys, so Ive got this old digital camera that doesnt keep time and date each time you take out the battery to charge it, you have to reset the date. I thought it would have a small bios battery but the only thing ive found on the inside is a soldered cilindric thing (that to my eye looks like a battery) that says 1226 PET, found nothing on the internet, not sure if this is exactly what I should look for, any help is appreciated

I inherited my mom's old laptop and installed Ubuntu over top of Vista, so now it is purely Ubuntu.
Her old battery only lasted about 10 minutes, so it had to be plugged in all the time, which I didn't like. So I bought a battery, and inserted it in when it came. The laptop doesn't see it at at all- no battery icon whatsoever. I can pull it out and put the old battery in and it recognizes it.

The new battery comes with a program (a .exe) to update the bios to accommodate the new battery... But don't have Windows anymore and Wine gives me an error when I try to run it, so I am at a loss of ideas.

Step 2: Remove the controller card from the batteries by desoldering the four metal tabs that connect to the different battery junctions. I used desoldering wick, flux and a hot soldering iron. A closeup of the new controller (attached), and the original Sony controller next to it.

This is after the main batter has been in the camera for several days, so the internal date/time battery should have had enough time to charge fully -- and be good for longer than a few hours sans main battery (I'd think).

My 6 weeks old A7II even has worst internal battery life, I only take out the battery to recharge for approx. 1 hour or so and put it back and turn on the camera, I have to set the date and time again and again, really annoying, I called Sony Canada, they ask me to bring it in for service, this is ridiculous, this new camera already need service????

The time & date question can pop up for other reasons as well, e.g. not having completed the initial setup fully. The camera will keep popping for the info, this has nothing to do with the state of the internal battery.

I have 2 other batteries form my A6000, today after someone posted at my thread that his original battery from A7II also has the same symptom, so I tried my older 2 batteries and they worked fine no problems at all after few tests, if you have other Sony batteries give a try, now I put my original A7II battery in the body and will not take it out for a while and see if the problem will go away and also I will charge it inside the body using the original battery that came with it.

I am talking about the removable battery NP-FW50, this sounds weird, but I proof it already. I really don't understand what causing the problem with that battery. If you have other batteries give a try.

The camera has an internal rechargeable battery for maintaining the date, time, and other settings. This information remains saved in the camera regardless of whether the main battery pack is installed or not, or whether the power if off or on. The internal battery is continually recharged when the camera is turned on and in use.

NOTE: The internal battery discharges gradually if the camera is only used for short periods of time. If the camera is not used at all for approximately 3 months, the internal battery becomes completely discharged.

I always want at least one spare battery, in case I forgot to charge the one in the camera, so I always have one to put into the camera. I think I have 6 batteries at the moment, but I do have 3 bodies.

Getting it fixed under warranty sounds sensible, but I would also strongly recommend getting a second battery. The drain from the date/time clock is tiny (I can check how full the battery is after five days and see 99%, for example).

#UEFI: Windows (works)
The Patch works 100% for Windows. Somehow windows does something and adds the Entry so the sony can boot from it with the NVMe-Disk inside.
IMPORTANT: Once you have installed and booted from the NVMe and you take the SSD out for some reason and then put it back in, it will not work again; you will need to install the Windows from scratch

#UEFI: Linux (does not work)
Installation was made state-of-the-art: GPT Partition table and EFI-Volume, yet under Linux it does not work

Before I start an uneducated disassembly of this laptop, does anyone know where I can get some instructions as to where to look for the CMOS battery? I hate to fault Sony, but it does seem that they have gone out of their way to hide the darn thing, and yet they make the HDD and RAM easy to get to! Any help will be greatly appreciated!

After changing the CMOS battery (BIOS) the USB ports no longer work, so I can't access the bios to check what happened because when windows boots it is also not working. How do I get the USB ports back to work?

I did the procedure and even then I can't change the options on the keyboard, it doesn't give any signal at all. When I connect a mouse to the USB port, it turns on the optical light but it also doesn't work. I tried to restore the bios through the safety Jumper, but I can't start the process. I must be doing something wrong.

1. I put the files (IFLASH2.EXE and GK0069.BIO) in root the flash drive(2GB) formated FAT 32 with option quick format disable.
2. I created a file with the name Autoexec.bat in root the flash drive.
3. I removed the ssd.
4. I inserted the flash drive in the rear USB port and turned on the NUC and the following message appeared: ''A bootable device has not been detected.''

Can you tell me if I can get the HEX or BIN file to re-record my bios with a recorder?
