Revit and AutoCAD are large software packages. Make sure you have several GB of hard-drive space available before you attempt these installations. Below is a description of the process for Revit, but you would use the same approach for AutoCAD (Windows) as well. While Revit and AutoCAD are both available as Windows software, only AutoCAD is equally available on the Mac.
I've read about it online and tried contacting the support but got no real solution back so far. I tried deactivating windows Defender (both virus scanning and firewall) and I haven't got any other anti-virus software installed.
I run Windows 11 for Arm through Parallels 17 on an M1pro MacBook Pro 2021. I have seen multiple people with a similar set-up running Revit successfully without any problems during the installation process.
I tried countless ways and finally did it by moving all the download files from the Macs default download folder (This PC\Downloads) to the Download folder on my C: Drive from the windows machine (C:\Users\USERNAME\Downloads) as well as turning off everything I could in the microsoft defender and waiting half a minute or so after opening the revit file.
Thanks a lot. I did have the same problem trying to start the installation from This PC\Downloads. I moved the downloads to C:\Users\USERNAME\Downloads and it worked out. Didn't have any problem with the Microsoft defenders.
Hi Steve, I am new to this forum and recently downloaded the Rhino WIP 7.0.19204.08205 and Rhino Inside for Revit. I am more from the support team and helping user installing the tool after recent lunchtime demonstration from McNeel. I can install the Rhino WIP and Inside on machine using our admin account and after installation all work fine in my admin account. But once the users are back to their standard account, they are unable to use Rhino Inside within Revit. Can you please advice and any further assistance would be much appreciated
Currently, RhinoInside Revit is installed in the user account at %APPDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\%RevitVersion%\ the installer copies there a file RhinoInside.Revit.addin a folder called RhinoInside.Revit.
If you move those files to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\%RevitVersion% it should be available for all user accounts on that PC.
Note: For most 2022 and later products for Windows, you can configure your product in Autodesk Account before you install. For most product releases earlier than 2022, you download the installer and then customize during installation.
@ksobon I am receiving this error when installing the Revit Pollination plugin. The installation gets stuck after talib.exe is blocked and will not proceed. I am not able to turn off Carbon Black Cloud on my machine. Are there any plans to provide an alternative solution to this?
We have a new option and we have already implemented it in the Rhino plugin. There is no .exe file in the process anymore and we are quite happy with the solution. I already opened an issue for transitioning to the new license and we will switch the Revit plugin to the new licensing too which should resolve this problem.
Alternatively, if you would rather use local Revit content libraries, you can wait for the installation of CSiXRevit to complete and then edit the CSiXRevit Family Name Mapping.txt located in the folder in which CSiXRevit has been installed. Detailed instructions can be found in Appendix A of the CSiXRevit 2025 Manual.
To start the installation, double-click the installation file. The V-Ray installer automatically removes any previous installations. This allows seamless upgrade from previous versions. If you experience problems, manually uninstall the previous versions to perform a clean install. See the Uninstall V-Ray page for more information.
The Advanced Installation button takes you to the Additional Components screen. Here, you can choose whether to install the License Server or V-Ray Swarm and specify the License server machine.
Optimize V-Ray for Revit installation by manually setting the location folder where V-Ray is installed. You can also enable distributed rendering via V-Ray Swarm upon installation. That way, you won't need to enable it from within the V-Ray for Revit UI.
@ali.naghib98 i am just another user, and i would suggest installing any connector through the OV launcher while that application (revit, in your case) is closed out to help streamline the installation process.
and, just out of curiosity, did you just install OV launcher or have you been using it? if you just installed, i would suggest to reboot and when you log into Windows, go directly to the connector download. also make sure you have installed the nucleus service and nucleus server (likely a localhost), if you are wanting to use the revit connector in conjunctionwith another OV app like Composer.
I have been trying to install the D5 Render Plugin for Revit 2020 & 2021 but there seems to be an issue with the install. I have uninstalled / deleted the D5 Folders in my Appdata folders and tried re-installing but still have the same errors occur.
Yet when I installed 2018.3 & 2019 plugin these work fine with no issues at all! (I need multiple versions of Revit installed as I do drafting work as well as rendering that requires Revit to not be updated)
The only clue I have from the screenshots you sent is that:
-Either Revit is opened and locking the plugin files.
-or a Corruption in registry of Revit 2021, specifically installation path value.
Thank you so much! I used this path: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit 2021 and it helped.
Now revit ask me to select installation folder. Which folder should it be? (I installed D5 Render yesterday so it should be the latest version)

If you have not already done so, you need to install the Geberit BIM Plug-in on the computer on which Revit is also installed. Administrator rights for the PC are required for the installation of the plug-in.
To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
Should you require support, you can click on the Help icon in the Ribbons tab which will provide you with various options to help you solve your issue. In the contacts option, you will be directed to your selected markets' webpage where all relevant information and updates are provided. Email addresses to the local Geberit support are provided for you to send any issue or question.
When installing the MSI for a Hilti plug in that works with Click2CAD, the installation fails. We've already given full admin access to that folder and to the appdata temp folder, including (for the time being) an asterisk wildcard in the temp folder. Where else would this software attempt to install that could be blocked?
In this tutorial, we showed you how to install the Speckle connector for Revit using Manager for Speckle. We hope this tutorial was helpful and that you can now use the Speckle connector in your Revit projects. If you have questions or run into issues during the installation process, you can visit for help and support.
Autodesk software will create log files during the installation process. Older versions of the software will create the log files in the user Temp folder. Newer versions of the software will also create log files in the ODIS folder.

This article lays out a systematic overview of the steps users need to follow to install the cove.tool plugins for exporting building geometries. cove.tool offers plugins free of cost and they can be found on their respective Extension Library Platforms Below. Tutorials and other help resources for plugins can be found in cove.tool's App Store.
Note: If a user has previously downloaded the Revit plugin with the Install Manually process (before November 2019), they will not be able to download a different version of the plugin until the previous plugin files have been deleted. [Skip this step while working with any other versions of the Revit plugin].
To overwrite the previous plugin version, locate the folder "C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\YYYY" and delete files "CoveRevit (Folder)" & "CoveRevit.addin". Note that this file path might be hidden in your folders, to see it go to the View tab and check Show Hidden items. After you have successfully deleted these files, install the updated version of the plugin.
If you're using Windows, uninstalling the previous plugin can be done by opening "Add and Remove Programs" in the search bar and searching for cove.tool. Select it and check what version is currently installed on your computer. You should be seeing 4.0.0, if not uninstall this version. After you have successfully uninstalled the previous version, install the updated version of the plugin.
If you have opened your project in Revit and still do not see the cove.tool plugin as its own tab or you receive an error message like the one below, then you must have missed the step of unblocking the zipped folder while installing, and your computer's firewall is preventing the plugin from initiating the enable tool-bar command or export-script sequence. Repeat the install process with an unblocked file and restart Revit to fix this issue.
