I have posted a tutorial and free C++ source-code for Face Detection
and Face Recognition from a webcam with realtime online learning. I
have actually used a similar thing before, exactly for Face
Recognition from Facebook, so it can obviously be useful :-)

Sorry Abhinav, I don't know how to do license plate detection and I
dont have Matlab. But I'm sure if you search internet there are lots
of info on license plate detection and OCR.
