Here's the thing about N. Korea.
It's a shit hole.
It's got 22% arable land and 1.4% permanent crops. Mostly hills and
mountains with deep valleys.
Natural resources consist of things like lead, coal and zinc.
The populous has been made so poor by communism it's pathetic.
There's a shortage of potable water, food, and there's a serious issue with
deforestation and soil erosion.
There's nothing of tremendous value in this land.
Yet NK insists on spending the zillions of dollars of aide it recieves
annually to support its military.
A MASSIVE standing army need resources.
Here's an economic overview from the CIA world Factbook:
~~~~~~~~~~ Begin Paste~~~~~~~~`
North Korea, one of the world's most centrally planned and isolated
economies, faces desperate economic conditions. Industrial capital stock is
nearly beyond repair as a result of years of underinvestment and shortages
of spare parts. Industrial and power output have declined in parallel.
Despite an increased harvest in 2005 because of more stable weather
conditions, fertilizer assistance from South Korea, and an extraordinary
mobilization of the population to help with agricultural production, the
nation has suffered its 11th year of food shortages because of on-going
systemic problems, including a lack of arable land, collective farming
practices, and chronic shortages of tractors and fuel. Massive international
food aid deliveries have allowed the people of North Korea to escape mass
starvation since famine threatened in 1995, but the population continues to
suffer from prolonged malnutrition and poor living conditions. Large-scale
military spending eats up resources needed for investment and civilian
consumption. In 2004, the regime formalized an arrangement whereby private
"farmers markets" were allowed to begin selling a wider range of goods. It
also permitted some private farming on an experimental basis in an effort to
boost agricultural output. In October 2005, the regime reversed some of
these policies by forbidding private sales of grains and reinstituting a
centralized food rationing system. In December 2005, the regime confirmed
that it intended to carry out earlier threats to terminate all international
humanitarian assistance operations in the DPRK (calling instead for
developmental assistance only) and to restrict the activities of
international and non-governmental aid organizations such as the World Food
Program.
It's a shithole.
And it's got nuclear technology.
Thank Bill Clinton, and Madelin Albright for giving it to him. And the
billions of dollars of food that we sent in the 1990's, went to feed the
army.
So in short, we were duped. We gave them light water reactor technology and
have fed their army for a decade. Look what it got us.... Oh the frikking
Joy.
It's not that NK will launch a missle at L.A. or anything, it's the fact
that they sell their military shit to anyone with money.
Like say, an angry muslim with a few million dollars or so? Sure.
The real problem is, NK has the potential to be the nuclear crack dealer to
the worlds assholes.
I'm not saying that we should put one U.S. service person in harms way over
NK at all... No way.
NK isn't worth one American life.
BUT, we must all understand that fissile materials are traceable down to
where the original material was mined, to where it was processed. If someone
touches off a nuke, it's easy to find out whos nuke it was......
If some asshole chanting "allah akbar" lights of a 5 kiloton nuke in
Portland, we'll be able to run tests on the fallout. And then we'll know
"who's" nuke it really was. If it came from NK, then we should turn the
whole place into a self lighted, glass covered, parking lot. And we need to
tell that stupid SOB that runs the place just that.
Or we could just let Japan kick their asses again like in 1905. The Japanese
ain't stupid. If they wanted a nuke, they could probably build one inside of
a month from today.
People worry about "starting a 3rd war"...
Like I said, NK doesn't deserve one American life.
We shouldn't start a "3rd war"...
If we find their shit blowing up on our soil, they get "removed" from the
planet.
Screw China, Screw Russia, and Screw the UN.
NK just "goes away"......
But we'll never hear our politicans take a ballsy stand. The Dems, and GOP
are so afraid of "offending" anyone in our P.C. world, that they'll issue a
"travel Ban" instead. Or better yet, they'll try to be "sensitive" about the
plight of NK, and try to offer more aid to the starving population.
We gave NK 350,000 metric tons of food aid in 2004.... It went to feed their
army.
But my friends in San Francisco continue to tell me about how NK is a great
example of how life should be. Where everyone lives according to their
means. They love Hugo Chavez and think he's a hero. It's easy to be a hero
when you sit on a shitload of oil like Chavez...
NK has lead.
We're screwed, and we did it to ourselves...
For years, from the 1970s into the 2000s, citizens of the Democratic
People's Republic of (North) Korea (DPRK), many of them diplomatic employees
of the government, were apprehended abroad while trafficking in narcotics,
including two in Turkey in December 2004; police investigations in Taiwan
and Japan in recent years have linked North Korea to large illicit shipments
of heroin and methamphetamine, including an attempt by the North Korean
merchant ship Pong Su to deliver 150 kg of heroin to Australia in April 2003
Get them high on drugs and send them to the voting booths...
Why weren't the two KN people caught in Turkey smuggling drugs jailed for 90
years or executed? (like everyone else)..
If it were a couple of Americans, CNN would have coverage 24/7 and the blame
would be on Halliburton.
Such a nice neighbor.
