One user notes: If you have the "wrong" dictionary installed and spell check and other features cannot be supported, you will not receive any warning or notification. At best you can type some gibberish and see if it is underlined, if auto-correct is enabled. Download dictionaries (from the new extensions mechanisms detailed below, not the Web site listed in the help), and change settings in the various dialogues (sorry, not sure which one, there are several language related dialogues) until things work again. However, this didn't work for me but if you have the settings of the majority (eg US English) maybe you won't have to bother.
OpenOffice.org dictionaries in Fedora. In Fedora to install OpenOffice.org, you can use the "Add/Remove Software" application, or you can do this from the command line with e.g. "yum install openoffice.org-writer". Additional language support can then be installed using something like "yum install openoffice.org-langpack-fr" to install French language support which will automatically include spell-checking support where available. A list of currently installed and available language packs can be seen using "yum list openoffice.org-langpack*". Additional dictionaries can also be installed separately using yum, e.g. yum install hunspell-fr.
NOTE: Hunspell is not capable of handling Finnish language properly, so these dictionaries should not be used. Instead, Voikko project should be used, either via Enchant (a recommended spell-checking library for any project, supports also hunspell) or directly in OOo via openoffice.org-voikko provided by the project also.
You can download a dictionary by clicking on the respective language. Then add it to SoftMaker Office by choosing the ribbon command File Options or the menu command Tools > Options, switching to the Language tab and clicking on the Hunspell dictionaries button.

1. No more headaches and hassles trying to read Azeri files created by others who use different fonts. It would eliminate the need to request accompanying fonts and installing them on your computer just to be able to read.
2. IBM could read Mac and vice versa. When files are transferred via e-mail, Azeri language documents created on a Mac system can be read by an IBM system and vice versa as long as both parties use consistent character font assignment and the same software application.
3. CD Dictionaries and Spell Check programs could be developed! Spell Check will save enormous time in proofreading and give an enormous boost to standardizing Azeri spelling. Bilingual dictionaries could be made available on CDs as well as on the WEB. Without standardization, you'll need to keep a dictionary handy nearby.
4. More font styles. Tired of using Times, Arial or Helvetica? Once the character assignment standards are in place, just watch how font styles "spring up like mushrooms after rain".
5. Bothered by seeing dollar marks like "$" for "" in e-mail messages as individuals improvise their own system to represent characters in the Azeri alphabet. Standardized fonts would eliminate those weird symbols created at personal whim. Simply, the receiving party would open the e-mail message and convert it to any Azeri font style he wishes. Voila! Standard Azeri Latin!
6. The "lost generation" of youth growing up in Azerbaijan today who have been cut off from written sources would get a second chance to make up for the academic years that were wasted because materials were not available in the new Latin script.
Documented Description: MySpell is a simple spell checker that uses affix compression and is modelled after the spell checker ispell. MySpell was written to explore how affix compression can be implemented.
Written in C++ to make it easier to interface with Pspell, OpenOffice, AbiWord, etc. It is stateless, uses no static variables and should be completely reentrant with almost no ifdefs. It tries to be as compatible with ispell to the extent it can. It can read slightly modified versions of munched ispell dictionaries (and it comes with a munched english wordlist borrowed from Kevin Atkinson's excellent Aspell. It uses a heavily modified aff file format that can be derived from ispell aff files but uses the iso-8859-X character sets only. It is simple with lots of comments that describes how the affixes are stored and tested for (based on the approach used by ispell). It supports improved suggestions with replacement tables and ngram-scoring based mechanisms in addition to the main suggestion mechanisms. Like ispell it has a BSD license (and no advertising clause).
Documented Description: GNU Aspell is a spell-checker which can be used either as a standalone application or embedded in other programs. Its main feature is that it does a much better job of suggesting possible spellings than just about any other spell-checker available for the English language, including Ispell and Microsoft Word. It also has many other technical enhancements over Ispell such as using shared memory for dictionaries and intelligently handling personal dictionaries when more than one Aspell process is open at once.
Documented Description: Hunspell is a spell checker and morphological analyzer library and program designed for languages with rich morphology and complex word compounding or character encoding. It is based on MySpell and features an Ispell-like terminal interface using Curses library, an Ispell pipe interface and an OpenOffice.org UNO module.
Hunspell is the spell checker of LibreOffice, OpenOffice.org, Mozilla Firefox 3 & Thunderbird, Google Chrome, and it is also used by proprietary software packages, like Mac OS X, InDesign, memoQ, Opera and SDL Trados.
Documented Description: International Ispell (an interactive spelling corrector) Ispell corrects spelling in plain text, LaTeX, sgml/html/xml, and nroff files. [x]Emacs and jed have nice interfaces to ispell, and ispell works from many other tools and from the command line as well.
No ispell dictionaries are included in this package; you must install at least one of them ("iamerican" is recommended by default for no good reason); install the "ispell-dictionary" package(s) for the language(s) you and your users will want to spell-check.
The Azerbaijani Safavid Dynasty or the State of Qizilbash which was its other denomination, was the first Twelver Shia Empire in modern-day Iran. Because of the Safavids, Iran today is Shia and not Sunni. However, the Safavids were not primitive like the mullahs in Tehran are today. The Iran under Azerbaijani Safavids was an economic stronghold between East and West who had an efficient state bureaucracy based upon checks and balances. They created great architectural landmarks and patronized the fine arts. Under their role, Turkic and not Persian influence was dominant. The State language was Azerbaijani as well as military and ruling elite consisted of Azerbaijani Qizilbash tribes. Indeed, it was only from the Pahlavi Dynasty onwards that Turkic identity in Iran was repressed rather than celebrated.
