We had an XP machine running 16.2 fine. Installed 16.3 into a new directory and it wouldn't load. Removed everything, 16.2 and 16.3 then reinstalled 16.3. Still has the same problem, when I launch orcad cis the first time it never loads. I can see the capture.exe process running in taskmgr, it grabs 50% of the CPU and will hold that for at least several hours without ever fully loading.

To run capture effectively on win 10 I may just go ahead and update my graphics card. Does anyone have a recommendation for use on win 10 that you found to work well ?

I was looking at the AMD FirePro workstation cards.



I am a bit on the fence with updating the video card as everything other than capture performs very well in the 2d rendering space. Older schematic capture programs

also work fine, Fast just like orcad pcb editor.


Thank you Steve! I managed to synch and upgrade my deigns from 9.2 to 16.2. Now I need to change some components on my schematics. For example I need to replace a 32 pins IC with a 16 pins IC. When I do that on orcad capture, how would this IC be displayed on PCB editor? would it even show on the PCB editor? certainly if this happens I need to route it manually I guess. I am sorry I am new in doing layout.


Hello, I am trying to get up to speed on Orcad 16.5 pcb editor/Allegro. The issue I have run into is that I am unable to display

the physical length of a trace as I route it across the board. In the older orcad layout product "Layout Plus" 16x this information

was displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the screen but this usefull feature does not appear to be present in Orcad 16.5

or more than likely I have not found it as of yet.
