Claudia Cardinale and son Patrick

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with some information about the
wonderfully talented Claudia Cardinale. Apparantly she had a son,
Patrick, when she was a teenager and just starting her career. She
passed the child off as her brother so as to avoid a scandal.

I've read conflicting accounts about this - a few sites say her
pregnancy was a result of a sexual assault, and another says the child
was fathered by the man she later married, Franco Cristaldi. Can
someone please tell me which is true? Perhaps she wrote of this in her
autobiography? I'm curious if she has a good relationship with her son
these days since he found out she is his mother rather than his
sister.

This is not exact. She did have a son without being married, but I
believe she was no longer a teenager... She was born in 1939, and I
believe her son was born when she was about 20.

Most importantly, she did NOT pass the child off as her brother: she
faced all kind of gossip, she endured some scorn and despise, and she
raised her son on her own.

I don't know who the father was. I do know the son was fathered by
Cristaldi when he and Cardinale got married in 1967. Cristaldi was
probably the greatest gentleman in the history of Italian cinema, and
possibly our greatest film producer ever.

Haven't read that. My source is "Il Cinema", a 10 volume movie history
published in the early 80s by Italian publisher Istituto Geografico De
Agostini.
