fping on large amounts of hosts

I have a setup for probing large amounts of hosts (10^6 for testing purposes, 10^7 for the actual run). What command line parameter shall I apply to shorten overall scan time?
Right now scanning 10^5 hosts takes 2 hours (124 minutes). Neither Gigabit Network nor CPU is saturated. Do you have any advice?
